Soarer Posted July 26, 2014 Share Posted July 26, 2014 I'm gearing up to do a JDM front bumper conversion and I'm hoping to use this thread to identify the different types of JDM front bumpers for 4th generation Legacies. Maybe we can also lay out the ancillary parts needed to do a conversion correctly and maybe even do a walkthrough of installation when I finally get my parts. To get started I searched through threads on this site and found that a few guys are importing complete bumper kits. Check the Vendor Marketplace for current importers. Also, here's a pretty exhaustive resource for what's available: https://www.japanparts.com/parts/list.php?dl=1&cm=6&md_sm=2:11 Bear in mind that the link is for 2003-2005 JDM Legacy. If you click through the search by vehicle, you can also see 2006-2007 and 2008-2009 Legacy. A great resource for used stuff is the Yahoo Japan Auction site where a ton of used JDM car parts trade hands. It was nice to see that at the current exchange rate of roughly 100 yen per $1, a used JDM bumper cover (just the cover) will run you about $50 but will probably need some light bodywork. Of course, you'll have to get that big bumper cover back to the USA. I'm not going to get into shipping costs. There are a many different variants. I'll post up some pics below and keep them in order so people can identify them. There's a few people that are importing JDM parts currently. Do you ever look at the marketplace here? valleylegacy and thisisthenewsic both have imported JDM front bumpers (amongst other parts), and both are great to work with. valleylegacy can help source what you want and is currently working on a box that will be shipping in a month or two. I haven't ever purchased anything from him specifically, but RawrParts does some JDM stuff too. This year I received a full JDM 2.0GT bumper setup with STi lip, including all necessary conversion parts, a JDM rear sedan bumper with spats, side aero skirts with molded in strakes, 2 grills, JDM trunk mat, JDM STi lower suspension bar and rear lower links and probably more I'm forgetting. Ah, thanks for the clarification. I'll edit the post. Do you know what kind of lip it is? Do you think it is a Spec B bumper under the optional lip or just a regular JDM bumper?
