spc2125
So I bought the Sound Ordnance B-8PT from crutchfield. I have an 06 spec b with nav so if I were to go aftermarket head unit I would need the jdm double din plus more to just hook up my subwoofer. My goal is to install this on the oem headunit. So here is some pics of what I have done so far. I just did some prepping and have Ground- ready Power- ready Remote- kind of ready My understanding of it (may not be correct) is that I have to use the remote wire because I cant use RCA cables... because oem headunit doesnt have them. And I would need the remote wire to connect to something that has 12v when the car turns on rather than a constant 12V. Does anybody know where I could tap into? Please be specific. I will taking apart the headunit to see where I can make connections to. Im very new to electronics and would need specific instructions (wire colors would help) to where I could hook up the remote wire. My next question is that they also gave me a high power input wiring plug. I have no idea whether I have to use this, or even where it would go because the wires are so short on it. Thanks in advance for the help. Update: Heres how my install went... Heres how it went Picked up some supplies at home depot http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/y2uru3e9.jpg I used taps to connect to Pin #9 with the remote wire. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/e8e6yga8.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/buda7ysu.jpg Then electrical taped http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/ajesudas.jpg Then I cut two 7 foot long lines of speaker wire. Copper (+) goes to red (+) and Silver (-) goes to black (-) I used butt connectors but when I started it up it did not work. I am temporarily using wire nuts till next week spring break and I will get a soldering iron and fix them correctly. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/3aheze7a.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/7yzypy9a.jpg These are the four wires I used Pin #2,3 (+ front speaker wires) and 8,9 (- front speaker wires) Refer to post #4,6 by sigma. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/2ezyza6y.jpg Then tap them all and electric tape around them. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/rujy5a9a.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/yguqyhy6.jpg Then here it is installed but again, I will clean up the wires once spring break comes. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/naqezasa.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/januneha.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/2uzapery.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/12/u5y9e7ev.jpg

I Donated Too sigmafour Posted March 10, 2013 I Donated Too Share Posted March 10, 2013 Are you serious? Haven't we already answered you on this VERY topic at least twice now not to mention all the PM's you and I have had on this topic? Do you have forum tourettes or just massive short term memory loss? jesusv
Hey, you should call crutchfield, they have all the technical data on cars and will be able to direct you to the right colored remote cable and speaker cables. The remote is just one cable and the speakers will be 4 in total. You will need to tap into 4 speaker cable (note, no cutting) for connecting the high input plug to the sub. Since you are using a factory radio, the high input needs to be connected for you to get a music signal to the sub. If you had an aftermarket radio with low inputs, then there would be no need to use the high input and you would just use the low inputs (RCA). I suggest making a run to lowes or Home Depot and pick up wire tap splice clips. They're small clips that attach a wire (your remote and high input) to the connected wires on your radio, instead of cutting into your wires. This will make install much easier. Check out my journal at http://www.subaruforester.org/vbulletin/f115/jesus-vs-09-forester-journal-79664/ scroll down and you'll see my install of the sound ordnance sub, you'll also see a picture of the tap splice clips. Hope this helps.

BigTDogg MA
At first I was like "What a dick" but then I realized they're local boys and probably know each other so the ball breaking made more sense. Pics of installed product plz
DeltaNu1142
...well, you might change your mind anyway if you do a search for some of SPC's other "please help me with this" threads. I'd also like to see the finished product. I don't much like dealing with speaker-level inputs, but it's quick & dirty & it probably works OK. I got a patched forward and reverse harness from SVXdc with the speaker wires broken out so that I can swap in an 08 head unit and add an amplifier with speaker level ins easily and cleanly. Quick and dirty and does the job. I'd love to add RCA outs to the OEM HU, but I just don't have the time or need right now.

.Catalyst.
Here's a couple tips even though I know you are waiting until spring break to clean it all up. When you solder I recommend getting some heat shrink tubing for the joints vs. electric tape which works, but gets greasy with heat and makes a mess (and you have no shortage of electrical tape there). Also I'd recommend moving the control knob inside the console box (console comes out super easy and just drill a hole in the bottom, feed the wire through and maybe put a grommet in to protect the wires). That will keep your passengers from screwing around with the knob. I'd also orient the sub so the wiring is facing the front of the car if possible - you're asking for a short or disconnect if you ever have a passenger in the rear even if you slide it further under the seat since all the jacks are facing the rear seat.
