Trying to upgrade key

So I bought a 2009 uncut key and a I am trying to program it to my 2008. I did all the steps correctly to program it but still wont work. I think it maybe because the FCC ID is not compatible. Is there a way to check compatibility for the FCC ID?

yes that is possible. You need to make sure you have the right FCC ID. What does yours read. Also to make sure did you review my video on how to program a remote. You can hear what sounds you should here confirming that it worked!

Yea I watched your video. I was able to program my original keys back, but the new FOB didn't match FCC ID's so it wasn't accepting it... Bummer cause the 09 keys look way better than the 08 key as well.

Well I know the 09 keys work since my Custom Flip key has an 09 FOB inside it. I'll have to take it apart and find out what FCC ID I have on mine. I know I bought a few incase I got sent the wrong one and 1 did not work.

I have a similar question (Sorry to hijack the thread).

I purchased a flip key on here, i got it cut, and it fit, but it couldn't actually turn the car over. They said i would have to take it to Subaru and get it programmed for around 100.

Is there a way to do that part on your own, or is Subaru the only option for that?

You are missing the immobilizer transmitter from an original key. The flip key kits do not include this. you can get one out of an original key that works in your car (key will be destroyed), or get one from a dealership and have them program it to your car.

Those are some great pictures for people to use going the flip key or even upgrading their key to an 08 Square key or 09+ Hex key.

Hmm, what i thought was a dead battery may just be a dead Key FOB all together.

Guess it's time to start looking around for a new one. I guess that's okay, this one was cracked and roughed up.
