Guys, we are looking to get back in the JDM business, do you think there is still demand??

Sorry to come in so random....

Thanks,

J

Welcome back Jimmy!

From what I've seen here, I think bumpers are usually lower priority since they're usually the "final touch" on the mod list and due to the higher price compared to other parts + cost of painting. At any given time, there may be a handful of members who are after the JDM bumpers, whereas 30+ people are after "smaller parts".

I think the following "smaller parts" have more demand:

- JDM Bilsteins

- other rare JDM suspension pieces such as STI strut bars and lower arm bars

- JDM mufflers (STI quad tips, K2 Gear, Fujitsubo, etc)

- smaller aero parts such as JDM aero spats and trunk lip spoilers

- JDM wheels

This is only my opinion of course. Hope it helps :)

I would love for you folks to get back in the JDM arena as my car needs a replacement STi lip. I would tend to agree with the member that stated that there is a market for the smaller aesthetic components.

I totally agree with N.Sane.

With HKC on hiatus for a lot of 2011, there must be pent up demand again (at least for me!) and the smaller bits are easier for us to afford and generally move better volume.

+1 on suspension bits and easy JDM add-ons like wagon tail lights, spats, etc etc.

EDIT: HKC is BACK! Thanks N.Sane for the reference. FYI: I did not mean the earthquake affected them physically, only financially. Either way it is great to hear a reliable seller is back. Edited by cholmes1

Gire just so you know HKC is no longer an online retailer. I think the earthquake and poor sales/cost ratio finally did them in...

If you find out otherwise please correct me.

See post #319 ;)

Also, HKC is based in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

I have the Sti quads bought from HKC and they are great. Yes they look best with a JDM bumper. Which I don't have yet.

Maybe one day I will get one from HKC? Here's hoping!!

Ok , I'm saving money now ... Lol . Do the STi quad tips sound a bit different ? Or just sound like the stock one ...

They are quieter than say a Megan Racing or a Magnaflow or something else aftermarket.

But the JDM cans have a raspier free flow sound with a touch of boxer rumble then you get on it. At idle they omit a nice bassy burble, much more than the stock cans do.

My car sounds like a stage 2 STi with it's stock muffler cans still on. Very close.
