amillovitsch1171
how many miles can i go with my 2005 subaru legacy gt before i need to change the oil? I have heard different answers from 3000 to 7500 miles.
Molal24
7500 miles is pure BS. I don't care what kind of oil you have, 7500 miles is only doable if you don't give a rat's ass about your car. 3000 miles is what every oil company recommends, however, Subaru recommends you change your oil every 3750 miles. Hope that clears up the confusion.
Dkim05
I am currently using amsoil and they recommend changing your oil at 15000 miles and that is for severe conditions. I mean I change my oil at about 7500 miles no problems at all.
rao
Welcome! As you can see this place is fun Subaru originally recommended 7k mile oil changes for the GT (3.5K for "severe use") when the GT was released (they other turbo engines had the same service interval). Time went by and Subaru changed their minds, declaring that all turbo Subaru engines were, by definition, engaged in severe use and needed oil changes at 3.5k miles. So for warranty purposes 7k miles is the answer, although they now recommend 3.5k miles. Enjoy the car Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
