ssulb
So I recently bought Anzo headlights for my 2010 3.6R that came with a 35 watt HID kit. (I forgot the brand of it at the time of posting but I will find out what brand and post on the tread). I currently have OPT7 bulbs and I was wondering if I should stick with the original HIDs or but my LEDs in the Anzo. Also is it just my headlight or is the turn signal on the Anzo headlights sort of weak? The turn signal on the OEM headlights used to light up all the street signs amber. But the Anzo doesn't quite do that. Thanks. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
LegitLegacy
Im not sure if the Anzo have the cover on the back of the bulb housing like the stocks do. If so, may be difficult to use the LEDs as they tend to be longer since they usually have fans on them. I did HID and just drilled holes in the rear covers, sealed them with a grommet so the wires can come through and keep the moisture out.
ssulb
The HIDs I got bundled with the Anzo headlights are very nicely finished and sealed. The amount of space is the same compared to the OEM headlights. I shouldn't have a problem with them being too long. I'm just not sure.... LED or HID. fedaykin
Take it apart and put proper D2S projectors in (with Osram CBI bulbs and a good ballast, Denso/Hella Gen3 or Hyluxtex/DLT Fastbright).

Sounds tricky to replace the projector [emoji23] I wish I could do that though. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Timothy.B
I just installed the Anzo's. You have trouble with leveling those things? I found it a bit of a pain. And that they wouldn't quite go as high up as I'd like. Yeah, the turn signals aren't super bright. I figure as long as they somewhat work during the day, that's fine. Not like people use the damn things anymore anyways My Morimoto's H7 LED heatsinks got in the way of the dust cover so I bought some Zenex HID's. I haven't installed them yet. Cool headlights though. http://i.imgur.com/dc2ec3N.jpg Timothy.B's 2011 LEGACY 3.6R
fedaykin
Sounds tricky to replace the projector [emoji23] I wish I could do that though. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk It's not hard. I use a heat gun instead of baking in an oven, takes longer but more easier to control the heating. Those Anzos are generic halogen projectors, so it's probably worse than the Subaru projector. Cool headlights though. http://i.imgur.com/dc2ec3N.jpg They look great on your car. They match the black color of the car. I went on my maiden voyage this morning after redoing the front end of the car (new bumper, lights, plastic pieces) - I was involved in a slight mess up in the parking lot. The OPT7 LED lights have a keyway. I just followed the keyway and I thought it was done. I turned them on and they pattern looked fine but this was when the lights where not mounted. Today on the road the headlights were literally lighting up 3 feet in front of me and that's it. I didn't know they need to be adjusted, I thought they come shipped all ready to go. This was a picture of the test fit, they seemed okay that's why I went ahead and installed them. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

I was going to buy those. The 5,000lm per bulb sounds fun. Did you take a look at other LED bulbs with the XHP50 chip? I found one made by Hikari and BPS Lighting. I just don't know what brand to go with. They might fit. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Funny now I still haven't seen a proper comparison picture from the "drop in" crowd. I've posted pictures of my drop in on my thread where you attacked me. I've asked you since you seem to consider yourself the expert, show me proof that retrofits are so much better than drop ins as you profess. Hell, you didn't even know USDM projectors were different until another user informed you on another HID post, so yea what do you know?
fedaykin
Lol "attacked", shame you can't shoot someone over the internet eh? I can't do a comparison because I have OEM HIDs. I haven't found a cheap set of halogens to retrofit, but since I would replace with either another OE HID projector or after market one, which there are plenty of output shots available, I don't see the need to spend $400+ on halogen headlights for nothing. I've retro'd my other car's headlights (halogen projector) after spend a few hundred dollars on HID kits and bulbs, so I speak from direct experience. You seem to like attacking me because I pointed out PnP will always be inferior to a retrofit. And weren't your pictures wall shots of your car close to a wall? What good are those when you're trying to see past 3 car lengths? Or do you only drive around in well lit, slow residential roads? But hey, $200 OPT7 kits are good value yeah? FLlegacy
Nothing beats the stock lights for ease of installation, . You guys and your quest for the best lights are just funny!
Timothy.B
I keep forgetting to adjust mine. Involves pulling wheel fender down so I can reach the left/right adjustments. I need the left one to move left a bit and the right one to move up and to the right a bit. When I adjusted the left/right I was a bit too close (like 15 feet) from the wall. Should have done it at 25 feet. Timothy.B's 2011 LEGACY 3.6R
