thehandierman Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 I guess even the door locks wear out after 20 years or so. Seems like a common problem. So should I install an aftermarket system to fix my drivers door that I can't get the key to unlock from the outside? Yes I have used lots of oil and cleaning the lock. snederhiser Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Hello; I had the same problem with my rear lift gate lock. Ended up removing the lock and found one tumbler had to be physically worked to loosen up! Could you switch the lock from the passenger side? These locks are fairly robust and can be worked. I think sticking a key in a hole is slow anyways.... lol... i like just pushing a button.. i say get a remote keyless entry system and install an actuator in the door..... step into the 20th century... lol.... I installed a key-less entry system from ebay to fix the drives door lock that wouldn't unlock from the outside. You can see what I did on my BLOG.
