crisjp3
Hey Guys I've been wanting to make the shifter crisp again for my car for some time. After doing some reading my understanding is that it's the shifter linkage that needs to be replaced? I was looking at the Kartboy Short Shifter and bushings to add to the package. IS this the solution or am I misreading?
Setnev
You need to replace the shifter bushing linkage joint. They aren't expensive. You can pick one up on Amazon for around $56 http://amzn.to/2rxEGDY
RumbleRumble
50$ on ebay for the shifter joint. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-35047AC030-JDM-OEM-Shifter-Bushing-Linkage-Joint-new-/142384258972?hash=item2126c35f9c:g:T90AAOSw3xJVVTh6&vxp=mtr Torque solutions has a good bushing kit too http://www.ebay.com/itm/Torque-Solution-Shifter-Rear-Bushings-Combo-Fits-Subaru-Wrx-2002-2014-Legacy-/142220066315?hash=item211cf9fe0b:g:Wu4AAOSwpdpVVuHg&vxp=mtr Don't get a short shifter. Sucks for DD Depending on where the car is from you bring has to drill out the roll pins for the shifter joint. You can get a new pin from the dealer for like 4$. xrayspecs
once you get used to it the short shifter isnt bad if your trans syncros are still new/good... that being said i just swapped out the oem bushings for the full Kartboy kit and it was night and day for the feel/crispness when shifting. the kit i used : https://www.rallysportdirect.com/part/shifter-bushings/kar-kb-003-5comb-kartboy-shifter-bushing-combo I swapped mine with the driveline out of the car so not sure how difficult the roll pins would be to get to with everything under the car. IIRC its a 4mm double roll pin set.
RustyRuu
If you are doing it in the car try different gears to get a better angle to reach them at 5 th is preferred by most people but it just depends.
