actionhank1786
Hey everyone, So, my GoogleFu has turned up nothing thus far, so i thought i would go ahead and post to see if anyone had some solid advice. My car has this metallic rattling sound. I guess the best way to describe it is that it sounds almost like a coffee can or something rattling under the hood. While driving it almost sounds like it comes from between the wheels, maybe a little further back. It's only really loud when accelerating, and i've noticed it happens around 1500 and 3000 rpm when accelerating. So, I'm thinking it might be some sort of loose shield or something near the exhaust, or drive shaft maybe? In case this post hasn't lead you to the conclusion yet, i'm definitely not the most mechanically gifted when it comes to cars. Anyhow, anyone else have this problem before? I'm hoping if it's just a loose shield or cover i can put the front wheels up on some ramps and scoot under the car to tighten whatever it is. I haven't noticed any decrease in performance, or fuel consumption, so hopefully it's nothing too major for now. Thanks in advance guys, -Aaron
Picky1
Might be a lose heat shield, or since we are talking about Subaru's it could be your cat.

AZP Installs
Could be heat shields, especially if it is further back. If it is up front it could be a timing belt idler pulley or something in that area. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
