xtea
Remove the wing, ground effects, civic red stripes, give it actual headlights, mirrors, door handles, and paint match the flares and I'll want one. Right now it looks like a scion on drugs. Also make the ducting functional
dgoodhue
Subaru Impreza product manager has already said the 2020 WRX will retains it manual transmission, so I am banking on the SGP platform WRX having a MT. The 2015 WRX/STI ended up with subdued styling cues on Impreza of its WRX prototype shown in 2014. I do not like the fender flare of this prototype. I am a little worried about those and potential Civic styling. I think Subaru will likely tone down aggressiveness of this prototype like they have done in the past. I am hoping I didn't make mistake about not buying 2018/2019 WRX MT and holding off to wait for the SGP WRX.

It won't be CVT only and sure as hell won't have 3.0DIT in it (even though I would love that personally). Knowing how butt tight Subaru is about any details on upcoming vehicles some reliable info may start appearing in a year or so. And if there is no hatch (I won't even dream about real wagon) I don't care for it. There is Mazda6 2.4DIT with AWD coming out soon if Jalopnik is right. That's way more interesting news. 2005 LGT Wagon Limited 6 MT RBP Stage 2 - 248K 2007 B9 Tribeca Limited DGM - 258K SOLD - 2005 OB Limited 5 MT Silver - 245K SOLD - 2010 OB 6 MT Silver - 205K

fedaykin
Eh? So it has motorised front lip that extends and adds foreground lighting, plus a rear fold out "diffuser". Why do you need shift lights in a CVT car? *edit* the steering wheel is for a bunch of models, that makes more sense.
jonnyt88
I can't fathom the WRX not having an MT option. It seems like <20% were MT from 2002-2008. Then they were MT only. I do wonder if the CVT has increased sales with the older generation and females {no offense ladies}, as I have seen a LOT more of them in 2015+ then before. Could also be the refined interior? Around here, CVT WRX are rarely seen on dealer lots, so I suspect that the production numbers are low. I think the dealers would stock them if they were popular unless Subaru is intentionally limiting the CVT sales and every CVT WRX sells quickly. As someone who seeks out MT vehicles and is planning to buy a next gen WRX to replace my LGT, it is good for me that Subaru is still selling a majority of WRX with MT. SubieDriver
They tried it once, and it had an unfair advantage, so they banned CVT from F1. Edit: Here's an article: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2007/05/03/banned-continuously-variable-transmission-cvt/ Another - Insta-Banned: https://badgergp.com/insta-banned-f1-tech-that-was-banned-immediately/ https://www.auto123.com/en/news/f1-technique-williams-tested-a-cvt-transmission-back-in-1993-video/34642/ "Williams' CVT FW15 car sounded revolutionary different to contemporary F1 cars because of the different way it used the engine. Instead of the revs rising and falling with each corner they remaining constant through each bend. There was also speculation that it had instantly proved several seconds per lap quicker than the conventional Williams -- which was already miles ahead of its rivals. That led the FIA to stipulate that, from 1994, F1 cars had to have between four and seven fixed gears -- and for good measure added a sub-clause specifically banning CVT. So the car was never actually raced and eventually found its way to the museum."
