BBPeik
Hi all, As you know I have now had my 10LGT for a year. I have been posting on here nearly as long. I decided it was about time to start a build thread so that I can keep a log of everything I am doing and to deter from posting a million posts about what I am doing all over the forum. Anyway, I will start with a bit of a history of my car with some pics and then the thread will begin after that. Thanks Brendan So I purchased my car from carmax April 2014. I new that I wanted one of these, although how much I love it now could not have been predicted. It is a 2010 LGT Premium GGM with black cloth interior and the faux metal on the dash. I bought it at 44k miles and it came equipped with the sts short shift and the factory boost gauge. My someday I will be done with it thread. BBPeik
The first thing that I did to the car was to blackout the headlights and plastidip the grill. It was pretty tedious, but I got it done. The hardest part was figuring out the oven temp for the headlights. I finally got it though and I think they look pretty good. Sorry this is the only pic I have that shows them when I first did them. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/my%20legacy%20gt_zpsu25u2qzo.jpg My someday I will be done with it thread. BBPeik
About six months back I decided to install some cross drilled front rotors and paint the calipers. I also painted an STI on the intercooler(later decided it was lame). Anyway, the brakes really made a difference. They are a bid noisy under hard braking, but they stop the car great. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/WP_20140726_008_zpsnoegsztf.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/WP_20140726_010_zpssr2poz9g.jpg My someday I will be done with it thread. BBPeik
So the next thing I needed to do was suspension. I forgot to mention I had already installed an eibach rsb right after I got the car. Anyway, I already had the Eibach springs and just needed struts. I went around and around with the Koni Bilstein question. I finally settled on the Bilsteins as I have always had good luck with them before. And they were on sale to boot. I am very happy with them thus far. My someday I will be done with it thread. BBPeik
I did get a new trans in the midst of all this under warranty from the dealer. Center diff went bad if you are wondering. My someday I will be done with it thread.
BBPeik
The last thing that I did was yesterday. I did the milk jug delete, painted over the sti intercooler, and finally put some LGT badges on the calipers. BTW I did the L7 badges a couple weeks ago. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150425_140122_zpsjl3qndv5.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150425_131554_zpskaaalw7p.jpg My someday I will be done with it thread. BBPeik
Ok well that is it so far. I am sure that I have forgot a few things, but this is what I have so far. I will post all my updates here from now on. Thanks Brendan My someday I will be done with it thread.
BBPeik
Of course I forgot the biggie. A couple months back I got an accessport V3. I am currently getting an etune from Cryotune. Just about finished. My someday I will be done with it thread.

jackal8788
I just wanted to try to give all the info about what has been done to my car since I got it. I was confused since the post didn't come from you. It just looked like a random person was jacking your thread. BBPeik
It was a bit strange, but what are you going to do. My someday I will be done with it thread.
BBPeik
So today I installed the Perrin 2015 wrx short shift. It was a super easy. The only tricky part was getting the roll pin out, but even that was not too bad. Made a huge difference. Shifts are crazy short now. Also installed the Perrin bushing as well. So now there is nothing left I can do to make my shifting any better. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150504_163510_zpspr6vbd7e.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150504_162155_zpsxhd3jmic.jpg My someday I will be done with it thread. So glad to hear this really does improve the shift throw. Did you happen to grab any measurements of before/after throw distances? BBPeik
Yes. I have the STI shifter. Throw was around 4 inches or a bit less before and after it is 2.75 to 3 inches. Those are rough measurements. It is a huge difference when you install it though. Well worth it. My someday I will be done with it thread.
Spooph
Who makes those rotors? I believe my car came with similar ones, but I have no idea who makes them. They warped and I ended up replacing them with DBA4000's(?) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BBPeik
^^^Yep. I am pretty happy with them so far. They could be better, but soon enough I will do Brembos. So they will work until then. My someday I will be done with it thread.
BBPeik
So today I started the initial work on removing my motor for my head gasket/ make it badass motor build( At least thats the idea). Any way, I removed the radiator, battery, intercooler, and unhooked the ac compressor so it can go to the side during removal. Not a ton, but it is an hours worth of work out of the way. Here are a couple pics. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150707_185325_zpsygfvir9e.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150707_191943_zpsrmyac6dz.jpg My someday I will be done with it thread. BBPeik
^^^Well if it is any conciliation it is crazy easy. Once you get a few things out of the way, there is a ton of room. My someday I will be done with it thread.
FLlegacy
^^Thanks! Oh and no its not lol! Especially because I told the wife I wanted this car so I wouldn't have to work on my aging forester all the time, LOL. It was a good plan until this forum came along and enabled me into the quest for more power! Good luck on the rebuild!
BBPeik
Made a another hour of progress this evening. Alternator, PS pump, airbox, and both turbo tubes out of the way. Coming along nicely. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150709_190523_zpsho9dhefs.jpg My someday I will be done with it thread. BBPeik
So this morning I finally got the motor pulled out. Not too bad. In total I spent about 5 hours getting it out of the car. I actually removed a few things that were not in the instructions, but their removal made things a lot easier. Once I had the engine out I could see both HG's weeping a bit at the rear of the motor. Of course I also discovered that my nice new 6500 miles on it clutch is roasted. Note to self, buy aftermarket clutch when car has been tuned. Anyway, it is not really that hard so if you are willing to do the work I think most should have an ok time pulling the motor. http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_103521_zpsmhj0pje2.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_105323_zpsxkyw5vkf.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_105335_zpsddyasegt.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_105427_zps537upo5y.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_105743_zps4jnvxjre.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_105933_zpsge18xuuk.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_105940_zpsjxjz77zx.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_105947_zpsus4fh9h5.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_105954_zpsy4sxfdno.jpg http://i1378.photobucket.com/albums/ah113/BBPeik/20150711_111206_zpsv5vgtkyt.jpg My someday I will be done with it thread.
