Hood Struts for 2005+ Legacy

I saw that Redline makes a kit for the Legacy and a lot of other cars for adding gas struts to replace the prop rod to hold up the hood. Does anyone else make something like this? I just did a kit from another place on my Supra and it didn't require any drilling or rivets. Anybody else make kits to do this?

RPA does. No drilling into the body, but last I checked, you did have to notch the fuse box cover to clear a bolt head (not visible once installed).

also check with Tein. They make some for the Impreza, not sure for LGT

Checked Tein. Only makes struts for Impreza and pre 2005 Legacy.

RPA looks like what I'm interested in. But cutting/notching the fuse box was listed. I'd rather not do that if possible.

Personally I'd go with those if I were in the market right now. RPA has not been very active on this forum for a while.

mine redlines work well. drilling/rivets weren't hard to do, but it's all about your preferences i guess.

Definitely don't want to drill. Any kits that don't require?

I think Grimmspeed has some now but I haven't looked into compatibility with the LGT or installation instructions. I have the Redline kit and am quite pleased with it. I got it from wesellcarparts.com which is a paid vendor here.

 

Not sure why everyone is opposed to drilling/riveting. Once you go struts you won't want to return to the goofy hood prop. The struts still pop off on the hood side if you need to fully open the hood for certain work in the bay. The rivets (and removing the stickers on them) made these look OEM.
