AlexShu
In this episode of the CASKA adventures - AUX Connector HACK !! So Ive replaced the stock stereo with the Caska unit but the AUX Connector in the hand rest stopped working because there is no connector for this in the new unit. BUT !! The Caska have an "AV In" Connector, so I will use this as AUX. My car "09 Legacy Automatic" Has 4 Cables connecting to the whole stereo unit 1. Hazard Lights 2. Climate control 3. Main Unit Cable 4. "Optional Acc' Cable"-ish - Steering wheel Control Buttons, Lights Dim Control On the unit and AUX Connection. The 4th cable has 8 pins, 3 of them used by the Caska unit for the steering wheel buttons - Like this : This is the car stock cable (WHITE): http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/IMG_4147.jpg This is the pinout of the AUX pins we need: http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/auxconn.jpg This is the cable that comes with the Caska unit : http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/IMG_4110.jpg and this is the way it used: http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/IMG_4113.jpg You probably can see the problem - Cable is occupied and pins are missing. What you want to do is probably buy something like this: http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/T2eC16FHJIQE9qUHrjYuBP9qT1sgg60_12.jpghttp://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/HDPINM.jpg BUT, I'm being lazy/cheap/hate waiting - opened my junk boxes, heat up my soldering iron Took some: Connector Male Pins Connector Female "Pins" - already came with wires - from old computer case the wires of the led's 2 RCA Connectors Heatshrink tubes Zip tie Soldered the male pins to the female connectors - and got something like the thing you would want to buy inserted the pins into the connector in the right places according to the pinout ziptied to existing cables for them not to pop out soldered to the RCA connectors, put some heatshrink tubing... ta da. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/20130330_172914.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/20130330_173029.jpg missing photo of them soldered http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/20130330_175408.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/20130330_175508.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/20130330_175726.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/20130330_175750.jpg Connected the AV IN cable and heatshrinked it too. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/DSC_6602.jpg http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc43/Blinkergrip/legacy/DSC_6608.jpg Connected everything and this is the result + Little Caska demo BEWARE LOUD MUSIC [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb2rNQZrCuk]Subaru Legacy 09 Caska Multimedia System Demo - YouTube[/ame] ENJOY YOUR CASKA ! BigTDogg MA
Wow, quite the ordeal there. I was surprised (as I'm sure you were) the photos show the HVAC controls, but the unit doesn't have them...
