CASKA Multimedia System AUX Hack

In this episode of the CASKA adventures - AUX Connector HACK !!

So Ive replaced the stock stereo with the Caska unit but the AUX Connector in the hand rest stopped working because there is no connector for this in the new unit.

BUT !! The Caska have an "AV In" Connector, so I will use this as AUX.

My car "09 Legacy Automatic" Has 4 Cables connecting to the whole stereo unit

1. Hazard Lights

2. Climate control

3. Main Unit Cable

4. "Optional Acc' Cable"-ish - Steering wheel Control Buttons, Lights Dim Control On the unit and AUX Connection.

The 4th cable has 8 pins, 3 of them used by the Caska unit for the steering wheel buttons - Like this :

This is the car stock cable (WHITE):

This is the pinout of the AUX pins we need:

This is the cable that comes with the Caska unit :

and this is the way it used:

You probably can see the problem - Cable is occupied and pins are missing.

What you want to do is probably buy something like this:

BUT, I'm being lazy/cheap/hate waiting - opened my junk boxes, heat up my soldering iron

Took some:

Connector Male Pins

Connector Female "Pins" - already came with wires - from old computer case the wires of the led's

2 RCA Connectors

Heatshrink tubes

Zip tie

Soldered the male pins to the female connectors - and got something like the thing you would want to buy

inserted the pins into the connector in the right places according to the pinout

ziptied to existing cables for them not to pop out

soldered to the RCA connectors, put some heatshrink tubing... ta da.

Connected the AV IN cable and heatshrinked it too.
