Xmas goodie install day, and that Crawford AOS works as expected!

Recommended Posts

Finally got around to installing some Xmas presents on the track car today. Grimmspeed thermal coated heat shield, Cobb Pitch Stop and a Faction Fab turbo blanket. Everything went on without any problems, each of these is pretty basic to install. Decided to use some extra Reflecta-Gold to do the inside of the heat shield as well. I like the way Faction Fab is sewing up their blankets, instead of it being a flat piece, (a la Cobb, PTP, etc.) this one is a multi piece sew up. This makes really nice fit around around the snail since its pre-shaped to that spec.

Also super happy to see that both sides of my Grimmspeed AOS were clean as a whistle inside. The Crawford AOS is definitely doing a great job. I haven't taken off the TMIC to check it since the original install so its had two track seasons on it so far.

Given the cost and complexity of install of a blanket, I’d say it’s worth it if your staying TMIC. I ran a PTP one under my hacked OEM heat shield when I was running a VF52 in this car and definitely felt that the intercooler was colder with it than running without. My PTP one was kinda oily and I didn’t put it back on when I swapped in the 16G and I noticed the difference. Yup my the Crawford AOS is definitely doing what it was designed for!

If you get the Faction Fab one they will list one for “OEM fitment Subaru turbos”. Most other manufacturers list a similar spec as well. There’s a bit of a range that they will fit too.

I am going with DEI Turbo Shield Titanium. I found that it will work. Plus I got a crazy deal. Thanks
