samuel082799
So I am working on putting together my new engine and I know you are not supposed to use brake clean on electrical components, but I accidentally got some in my throttle body electronics. I was just cleaning the outside, but i didn't know that there is a hole in the back that leads to the motor and other electrical stuff. Do you think this damaged my throttle body? I also have a throtle body from a 2011 wrx that i was just going to install to be safe incase i did damage the original one, but according to the subaru website they are different part numbers. i can see slight diferences between the two but nothing to make me question the fitment. Can this throtle body be used in place of my 2005 OBXT one? Thanks!
r.lee89
The brake cleaner is pretty harmless. I have used it to clean MAF sensors and have no issues. As for the throttle body from a 2011 WRX im not sure.
apexi
I wouldn't jump to conclusions and start swapping parts yet.. just drive it and see what happens.
