What did you buy for your 5th gen today? - V3

Recommended Posts

Is that just old age and spirited driving or do you launch it?

Oh, old age. 180k on it. I haven't launched it after getting my first rebuild (based off my stupidity) - at 50k miles - and learning that it might not be a good idea cause this stuff is expensive. The good thing is that AWDTuning (who I shipped my trans too) was impressed that the other gears still looked great! But, just for my anxiety (even if its a placebo - don't know) I will be slapping that Blast plate on when they put it back in.

On another note: Driving a rental car - ford fiesta. Sorta fun just zipping around in a covered gokart. :p

Heck yeah! Good choice - biased ;)

Yeah these look to be the go-to, when I looked around Perrin and most of the higher end kits use them. :)

I hope I dont end up overcooling lol, the 10 row looks to be doing good with your 18g setup, I got a 19 row which will only see a tuned stock turbo.

  • 2 weeks later...

Made a sweet snag at the junkyard this weekend: OEM Lip Spoiler in G1U Ice Silver Metallic for only $30! Pretty great condition, planning on dremmeling off the screws and mounting with VHB tape instead of drilling it, might not even drill or hook up the brakelight so it can be easily removed once I get the Blitzen spoiler re-painted. I'm really digging how it's gonna look after having a clean trunk for so long!

I initially came to this junk yard for the entire trunk. In the listing online, the trunk looks perfectly clean and intact, and was even clean below "LEGACY" so I could've easily re-badged it "3.6R", but when I got to the yard, the trunk had irreparable damage from being pried open. :( :( :( Really gutted about it too, because the drain holes were even completely free of rust, which sadly is not the case for my own trunk. Either way, happy the trip wasn't completely wasted.

Did he sell his Brembos?

No, he didnt sell them. He posted a pic of his Brembos with DBA T-slot rotors in another thread. They looked so good I decided to get the same rotors for my own Brembos which will be needing a front pad and rotor replacement soon.

EDIT - ah I see it now, edited earlier post for clarity.

^Oh, I've seen them there too, one of the first I'd seen, and was on the fence for the longest time.

I was wanting to see pics of them installed on our cars from a bit further away and acumenhokie just happened to post the pics from the angle I was looking for.

Thanks for the additional pics and reinforcing the enabling lol!

The fuse box cubby/tray arrived today. The texture is not exact, but honestly you will hardly ever see it.

Bought Invidia Q300 CBE and Perrin 22mm adj RSB. Install next week. Next step: Cobb AP V3 and, if the CBE isn't too loud for my neighborhood, catted DP to make sure it is. Will be first mods to this LGT or any car I've owned. Let the tortured fiscal rationalizations begin...

. Let the tortured fiscal rationalizations begin...

You've certainly come to the right spot! You can wander over to the porn section if you are up to it - hence why they're called "Stickies". My fav is the one full of the members that are really experienced. "29 positions in a one night stand": https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/build-list-270099.html

it probably won't be too loud, the resonator does a lot of the work.

Welcome to the show!

You, sir, are an enabler of the first order. Have been reading those excellent build threads and now have plans for all of my lunch money until, and likely after, I retire.
