6th Gen Legacy Wheel Thread

So every time I look at the 17 incher alloys on my car I feel the bug more and more to buy some wheels..

I've had my eye on two different sets of varrstoens w/ tires on Craigslist:

1). Varrstoen MK5 18x9 + 30 & 225/40R18

2). Varrstoen MK6 18x10 + 25 & 225/40R18

I understand the speedo reading would be out of spec for the overall setup, and I haven't seen anyone go that wide with 9s or even 10s. This being said will running one of these sets rub at stock ride height or simply look absurd. Looking for honest opinions

First I'll say these are a great looking rim with a ton of dish. However just because it has the correct bolt pattern does not mean a wheel is going to fit.

These wheels come in 20x9 with either ET15, ET25 or ET35 offset. Even a +35 offset is going to have the outside face of the rim poking by an additional 39.1mm compared to stock: http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=225&aspect=50&diameter=18&wheelwidth=7.5&offset=55&width2=245&aspect2=35&wheel_size=20&wheel_width=9&offset2=35

This has been attempted before and does cause some rubbing which will require guard rolling to correct. This will be more so if you decide to lower the car and or carry passengers/luggage in the rear.

I'm not trying to put you off from doing it as these offset wheels do look great but almost always require modification to the guards so you don't damage your tires.

Tire size is too low profile so the speedo is out (general recommendation is to keep within 2% and these are 7%).

Offset is way too aggressive (especially on the 18x10) and you will likely have rubbing issues on the front as well as guaranteed rubbing on the rear.

Just put some 19x8.5 +33 Niche Misano's on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3+'s (245/40/19) on the ride. I've got a bit of a rub on the rear. Set to have the fenders rolled on Wednesday. Pretty happy with them so far. Love the more aggressive look.

Not to mention that is a very narrow tire to be running on that wide of a wheel. You'll have a real stretched look going on there. I'm running 245s on my 8.5" wide wheel, and it looks great.

Anyone around CT area interested in these 2016 WRX premium 18x8.5 wheels? Looking to sell and they're in excellent condition

Picked up a set of BBS RG wheels, just need to get some tyres installed now.

I didn't realize that these wheels needed a different type of lug nuts, so that's something else to buy now

Just as long as you're not after flush-with-fender fitment. A 40mm offset will still be noticeably tucked inside the fender. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since the flusher you go, the more conspicuous your fender gap gets, which could be an issue if you're not lowered. Just FYI, anyway. Personally, I regret going with a 43mm offset on my 18x8 wheels.

I have a 2018 Legacy. Picking up a set of sti 18x8.5 wheels. What size tire would I need to be close as possible to stock

Do you mean you want to keep stock tire width? Stock 225 width would be really stretched on 8.5J wheels, so unless you're going for the stretched look and are willing to put up with all the downsides, that's probably not the best idea.

Or do you mean you're aiming for a vertical sidewall, or one that bulges out slightly, like the stock 225 tires on stock 7.5J wheels? If that's what you mean, I'd think that 245 width tires should give you something close to a vertical (neutral) sidewall, and if you'd actually prefer a bit of a bulge for tyre protection, you could go for 255 width. And you'd probably want a 50 (stock) or 45 profile.

Check out the tables on the first page of this thread for some options, though it hasn't been updated in a while, and won't tell you how much sidewall bulge or stretch you'll get.

Do you have a 2.5 or 3.6?

I looked at the chart and didn’t see anything that was for a 18x8.5. Do you think 255 50 would be the best choice?

You aren't the first to use the STI wheels. Tigger73 has sold his Legacy/Liberty already but he used to run 245/45R18 iirc. Explore this thread and you'll see.

I'd guess 255/45 would get you what you want without going for a 50 profile tire. More choices among 45 profile tire models.

I'm curious: Why do you want the bulge? Is it for looks, rim protection or some other reason?

GFG Forged FM 914 19x9 ET35 wheels with 245/40R19 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 rubber. No one's posted about fitment for these specs before, so just sharing what it looks like. But it's not for everyone, because I had to roll my rear fenders all the way (including shaving and cutting) to avoid rubbing while running comfortable coilover damper settings and sane camber (just over a degree). In terms of overall rolling radius, I'm at just marginally smaller than stock, which means negligible speedo error.

Thanks! It's not a real diffuser, lol. I wrapped the bottom portion of the rear bumper in black vinyl. I then bought universal winglets/spats from Chinese online mall Taobao (which doesn't ship to USA afaik but there are many similar alternatives from eBay that I almost bought) and cut them to fit against my OE splash guards. Voilah! Instant fake diffuser for this ricer

I guess the same approach I took should work with a dual exhaust system. Don't see why not. Go for it!

Your rear bumper looks different,you think you can post a pic of the entire rear bumper?also is your spoiler oem or universal also?thanks
