jagoulet
I want to swap the Crank Sensor on a 2.5 motor. Should be simple. * removed wire harness connection * removed 6 mm bolt * got the sensor loose to the point where it rotates around fairly well. But I can't pull it out!!! What am I missing here? I have the alternator out so reasonable access. All I can imagine is there is a ring of oxidation on the bottom. This is a 2009. Any suggestions?? Max Capacity
Something like PB Blaster. Spray it and give it time to work. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. 08SpecB_DE
A small pair of pliers will help. Its stuck on the o-ring so a little pressure and it will pop right out.
jagoulet
horrible job . . .pulled on it with all kinds of things. Top finally broke off. Still no luck. O ring came out. Basically the body of the sensor was oxidized to the engine block. I guess 11 years did that. I finally took a thin, flat blade screwdriver, ground the tip a bit thinner, and worked my way around the shell, collapsing it inward until it broke free. So I'm home free, right? Nah. No such luck. The new one the Subaru people sent looks nice but is about .070" bigger than the old one. An adventure! thanks, everyone! John
Tehnation
I would inspect the hole. That sensor should go in with ease with a little pressure. Clean out all the rust or whatever is in there with some sandpaper. Double check the part number on the sensor with parts.subaru.com
Osei
Had the same issue. Some of them look like they have a collar and are too big. Had access to a few blocks, finally got one that worked. From an 01 IIRC. O.
