First "Mod" (kind of) on the OBXT

Be aware that what you have there will rapidly become illegal once it is loaded and blocking your license plate. I suggest you have a custom plate made that is the same as your regular car plates. I did not use this service but when I was using one of those hitch cargo carriers, I paid a company $25 to cast me a CA plate in plastic that looked just like my Dodge Durango plates. I could pile that bad boy to the roof with straps and stay legal.

Thanks! I didn't even think about that...

Cargo carrier is nice, especially if you have dirty or mess stuff and simply don't want it in the car. Looks great!

Only advice I can give is park far away from everyone when this is attached. Back in whenever possible. No one uses their mirrors and i've had mine hit at least three times while I was nearby, never mind not around. Either that or put orange fiberglass plow poles on the corners and look like a clown.

Good tip and a great idea.

Some states require registration stickers on the rear plate, though.

The registration sticker will be overlooked when the registration comes up clean and the officer sees that you made an attempt to properly plate the car by fabricating a matching plate. Alternately, you could actually move the plate from the back of the car to the hitch carrier but I would only do that if you are going to ride with it full time. As long as it doesn't look like a full-time commercial setup that is used all or in a small town that needs the revenue from out of towners you will be fine and thats my "professional" opinion as someone who once upon a time held a class "a" license and still has a class "b".
