Libertarian
I scratched my steering wheel and it's vexing me. I was looking to upgrade to the nice suede and carbon fibre one from the WRX STi. Is this doable? Is it safe? I have keyless entry, does this affect anything? Or do I just unplug the battery and go for it.
YeuEmMaiMai
yes it is doable and no it will not affect anything as the immobilizer is in the cluster and body integration unit

But before you go that route, consider replacing your worn/damaged steering wheel with a stock wheel. A brand new leather-wrapped OE Legacy/Outback steering wheel is less than $50 MSRP here in the U.S., available from any Subaru dealer. Libertarian
Wrx/Sti Wheels have a different style Airbag.. Oh shit I think you're right. So what I have to get a 2nd hand airbag in order to do this? Now isn't that risky? I may have to get another stock one... Damn it.
