Done Deal!

Recommended Posts

Closed on an Abyss Blue Limited with a few options.

Being built.

October delivery date.

Off lease ( and six month extension) of a 2016 premium.

Intrigued by the turbo but not at 4 grand more.

Dealers must be factory incented

as cost was slightly below invoice.

Drove a base limited.

A little more pep, quieter, great interior and better bolstered seats.

Outside pretty much the same except for huge trunk opening.

Loved the 16 hope I do the 20!

Dealer called and said car built with a delivery date of Oct 11.

Subaru elves working overtime or lack of demand?

Will post pics

Questions:

how long to wait before waxing?

Going to replace fog light bulb with a Yellow bulb.

Suggestions?

I'm debating the 2020 at this time.

Just like you, currently have a 2016.

Curious about your thoughts on:

- Infotainment (Looks like a hassle to do simple things, bigger screen=even more sun glare?)

- Front looking camera (can it be used at any speed, is it useful?)

- Stop/Start (I already don't care for this)

- Facial recognition (useful?)

  • Facial recognition isn't iPhone responsive but worked respectably in the demo vehicle.
  • Any screen will have glare. A bigger screen will usually have more glare. Tesla, Toyota (in the Prius Prime), and other manufacturers haven't had massive problems with similar systems.
  • The front camera is AMAZING for parking. I've used one on a Ford Explorer for years. You'll use it often if you live in the burbs. You everyone should know that unless the front camera has an integrated windshield washer sprayer, it will likely be useless during the winter.

  • I hate Start/Stop and have disabled it in every rental car I've had with it.

What are your thoughts on the Direct Injection engine that is in the 2020?

Our 2016 came with Indirect Injection (helps clean the valves).

I drive 50k/year and worry about carbon buildup.

Was this a topic of discussion during your sale?

Not necessarily. Subaru traditionally has given dealer's credit for a 2% hold back, 2% marketing, and $200 floor plan below invoice on all cars. (They also get a credit for gas but that doesn't really count.)

The money factor/ lease rate is much worse then three years ago.

I do not know if Subaru / Chase is worse than others.

Would expend on the car.

I know that they have purchase agreements with various organizations but am unaware of leasing agreements.

Was told they only lease through Chase.

Most of the bulbs are LEDs so Subaru's not publishing info. Saying "Consult your SUBARU dealer for replacement."

The only exterior ones listed are tun signal (7444NA/WY21W front/rear) and backup (W16W). The 7444NA is dual element so might be half marker (running).

I checked the PDF manual and found the same " contact your dealer" advice

Well at this time the dealer dozen't know either.

Contacted Subaru who said contact your dealer.

Just sent a return email asking that someone in Subaru should be able to reveal this state secret.

Just want nice yellow fog lights!

This is what I received from Subaru customer service re the fog lamp bulbs:

There is no part number for the fog light bulb that we can provide to you, because the LED bulbs are not individually replaceable. If the LED fog light does not illuminate, then the entire assembly needs to be replaced.

Has anyone heard of this type of set up?

No yellow fogs for me it seams

I really hope that an inoperative fog light will not require replacing the entire assembly.

Checked here:

https://parts.subaru.com/productSearch.aspx?ukey_make=5806&ukey_model=89998&modelYear=2020&ukey_driveline=53362&ukey_trimlevel=107087&searchTerm=fog

Looking at the picture, it might be a standard H11 style bulb.

If so, just go aftermarket.

Thanks for your replies.

The Lamin X would be an option. Although they do not show one for a 20

The parts list link indicates that fog light assembly fits the 18,19 and 20 Legacy

It does not show an attached bulb.

Safe to assume that it would take the same bulb as the 18 and 18 Legacy?

  • 3 weeks later...

If it is LED Fog, it will in deed be a one piece unit. You can not swap the "bulbs" out in those units as the whole thing is just one piece.

On that note, I can't believe no one has taken delivery of a Legacy on this forum yet.
