dlsteffen
Hey guys hoping you guys can help with this. I am switching over to speed density and the only intake option I've found without a maf slot is ETS turbo. However I found out after buying one they're designed to fit with the factory inlet and I have a Perrin. I am aware of maf block offs but I'm stubborn and may end up making my own. Let me know if there is anything on the market compatible with the Perrin inlet. Thank you. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
boxkita
Did you contact Perrin directly and ask them? They are known for being accommodating for interesting builds Build my car Boxkita Track days
rhino6303
The Perrin inlet is in the same location as the oem inlet. All aftermarket intakes should connect in the same location unless you've gone custom or rotated. Post a picture.
dlsteffen
Portion of my email to ets "I'm using a stock size Perrin inlet along with ets front mount.* Connecting the inlet to the intake is not my concern, but when it is more or less aligned like in the first photo, the air filter is budged against the inside of the fender/bumper and you can see the mounting bracket is way off. Then when I try to align the mounting bracket with the mounting hole the inlet and intake to not align." Their reply "The Perrin inlet has a longer leg on it. This pushes the intake system out farther towards the fender. Our system is designed to work with a factory inlet. I am assuming Perrin did this to ensure folks had to purchase their intake system. That is the correct intake. You may want to remove our coupler and attempt to stretch the Perrin inlet over it. I doubt that will stretch over the pipe though. I would suggest running the factory plastic inlet with our coupler to make that system work." Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
dlsteffen
I am a little suspicious to what ets had told me because I dont even think Perrin makes an intake for the lgt. Plus the car had a typhoon intake system with Perrin inlet with no fitment issues. I thought maybe they had sent the wrong part but they said no, and I told them I was baffled as to why they would design around the oem inlet since it's a shit piece and very common mod. They didn't have much to say. I don't want to start drama, they make quality parts. I am running their fmic and it's great, I have no complaints about fitment. I just want to see if there are others with the same issue and what they did to correct it Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
rhino6303
I would find a shorter coupler and piece of aluminum to attach the intake to inlet. I have the perrin inlet and a grimmspeed 3" intake and it fits just fine.
Code
Any intake that fits the LGT should work with the Perrin inlet. I have used AEM and Grimmspeed intakes with the Perrin inlet. Neither had fitment issues. "Striving to better, oft we mar what's well." - Bill Shakespeare - car modder
Code
Also know that the grimmspeed block off does not fit our intakes but the IAG piece does...ask me how I know. I also had iWire build me a harness that plugs into factory MAF connector, this breaks out to IAT sensor and has a pigtail that allows you to repurpose the factory 5v MAF input (which I use to log wideband AFR with my AP) "Striving to better, oft we mar what's well." - Bill Shakespeare - car modder
dlsteffen
Thanks for the responses. May end up going with amr inlet (since aps is no longer in business) and using silicone coupler with a slight bend to fill that gap.
