Wax on Exterior Flat Black Plastic

Recommended Posts

Is there a method for removing wax off of Exterior Flat Black Plastic, similar to plastic trim on bottom of Legacy rear bumper?

My Fiance waxed too quickly and left the wax on for several months on her car.

'Back to Black' exterior trim dressing hides it, but you see it when the dressing fades.

I tried a search, but came up empty.

If this has been posted before, flame away.

Get some Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, soak a rag with it and rub the left over wax away. Rinse thoroughly afterwards.

The stuff mentioned above will just cover it and it will come back after they eventually fade just like you found out with "Back to black"

^^^:whore:

Or ... and I'm being serious here ... try Peanut Butter. The peanut oil breaks up the wax and should help remove the chalky white staining.

I'm actually planning on busting out the Peanut Butter tonight on a detail I'm working on.

sure, it also removes clearcoat too. :p well, on plastic who cares i guess.

Nope, I wouldn't wash my car with them, but I use them on my wheels and they have zero effect on the finish there.

Magic Eraser kicks ass.

it's been around in Japan for years. i use it for cleaning pots and pans and

ceramics, stoneware. you can use it on wheels too, but it does remove clearcoat

while it removes the grime. works best with just water, no soap.

I don't have to try it to know that it covers up whats on there. I bet you have to re-apply it every 6 months or so right? If you didn't it would be paint duh!
