New Shoes....

rtp

Recommended Posts

Got some new shoes today. I've been waiting for my DMS coilovers, but they got lost in transit, so the car is still sitting a bit high.

However, these are REALLY big... I'm concerned that I'll have to roll the fenders. The setup is as follows...

SSR Comps

Silver w/machined lip

18x8 +51

Goodyear Eagle F1s

235x40x18

What do you think?

Thanks for compliments... the wheels look better than I thought they would.

They do stick out a little further than I thought for +51. I was going to go for the 245/35/18s, but since these are my commuters I thought I'd go with something a little more comfortable.

We'll see what it looks like in a couple of weeks when it gets dropped about an inch.

How's the ride on these? does the car feel more solid now especially on freeway at high 70-80 mph? How's the ride different from stock?

Those mud guards look stock from dealer. I had the same ones added for like $48 or so from the dealer.

Nice shoes and nice pics!!...these wheels have a real clean look to them...

(where did you get the rear and front mud guards from? how much $$? Thanks!)

Looks great! :D +51s do stick out a little, but I'm personally a fan of that "muscular" look. :)

I'll let you know on Monday. Haven't had a lot of time to drive around yet. The ride is certainly more firm than my Michelin Alpin sports on my stockers (225/45/17).

I've got to figure out how much my speedo is off now....

I bought the mud guards from the dealer... I think they were around $50 or so.

I really like'em (plus they are functional :D)...but my dealer wants $80+ for a set of 2 (fronts or rears), non-painted :(

In Taiwan now...:spin:

ok, cool, post back when you get a chance.

Where did you buy them and how much did you pay? Did you need to get new lugs as well?

Ok, can I just say... WOW!

So, I've been on Michelin Pilot Alpins since I bought the car in October. And for the most part they were better than the RE-92s... but, they were still snow tires.

In my 50 mile one way commute I have the opportunity to test the car on different levels, if I so choose... here's my first impression...

More firm ride overall, but in a good way. Less road noise overall, but what is left is a slightly higher frequency of road noise/vibration... not bad, just noticable.

Turn in is much better! Much better handling on the highway... on all types of surfaces. The car does not tram nor does follow the grooves in lined concrete like I thought it would. Overall, just outstanding!

The 18's do make a difference in terms of acceleration. It feels just a tad slower out of the gate, but I haven't tried getting on it yet.

I also have a long, fast, decreasing radius exit ramp that I decided to really push today. Holy crap. Very predictable, sticky, and a slight drift that I broke into near the end. Almost doubled my previous high mark through the turn.

I can not wait to see the improvements with the DMS coilovers.

once you get an alignment after your DMS comes through, you should feel a lot faster. As for the fender rolling, it's close, but I doubt you'll rub. You would be in the same ballpark with me, only I rolled my fenders to be able to deal with 8" wide wheels with +40mm offset with 245 wide tires. I dont think you have anything to worry about.
