Recent Upgrades Impressed

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, after my problems with my EL headers. I decided I wanted to try my luck with some other mods to stop being depressed they didn’t work lol.

First thing I did was install some swift springs. I ordered them from MAPerformance. They were clearances to $200 usd. I originally had koni + stock springs. All I can say is wow. The springs lowered the car a good bit of course but I’m mostly surprised how it feels. It just feels like this is what the car should ride like. What has me the most surprised is the ride quality. I assumed bumps in the road would be a lot worse than the stock springs. Koni adjusted 1 turn from soft in the front and rear is perfect. The bumps Or pot holes in the road feel almost exactly how it did with the konis and stock springs.

Next mod, found a used q300 exhaust for cheap. I decided the price was right and I was tried of my magnaflow exhaust having extremely uneven exhaust tips. So matter what I did the driver side tip would hang extremely low to the ground and the way it hung on the exhaust hangers just didn’t look right. (This could also be my fault maybe I bought the wring one but this was years ago I don’t remember the model number). Anyways the q300 was easy even to install. I really like that I could ditch the gs 3in dp to stock catback adapter. Since the magnaflow started at 2.5 to work with the oem dp. Getting everything lined up and even was extremely easy. Fitment perfect. It’s not as quiet as the magnaflow, but it’s not bad at all. Acceleration is more rumbley and deep. The best part is the magnaflow has drone around 2.8k and up. The q300 does not have this. Cruising at 70mph 3k rpm I can hold a conversation easily. If I didn’t find it cheap locally I probably wouldn’t of switched but I think it was well worth the money.

I did do some other little stuff, like slowly buying some jdm upper black interior pieces, buying an sti map light/sunroof piece with the microphone and then removing the oem microphone and mounting my double din’s microphone hidden in there. Not sure if it’s on this website or another one but I read people trying to wire the sti microphone to work but it always ended terrible with a lot of static or not working. So I took the easy way and still looks oem since you don’t see a random microphone hanging out in the open.

Will agree the Q300 is a nice product. I do think mine is getting louder as the years go by.

Well this one is used so let’s hope it doesn’t keep getting louder lol

Do you have a build thread?

Nah I don’t. Thinking back I probably should of did one.

I guess the point is atleast you made one lol.

So I’m still in the process of swapping to my front brembos. I saw “used” centric blanks on Amazon. They were shipped and sold by Amazon. I was curious, they were only listed for $6 each. I messaged a sale representative and asked them some questions. He just told me if I don’t like what I see return them for a refund. Sounded like a plan to me.

I just got them today. And wow I have to say that was probably the best deal I have ever got. One box wasn’t even open no paint chips, painted hat, brand new rotor. The other one had a few paint chips on the rotor hat. No scratches showing it was used, just like someone fitted it and realized it was the wrong rotor for them.

Glad you like the spring and strut combo. It’s recommended by many here, and the H&R spring on my car is recommended if you don’t want to drop the car quite as much (Swifts drop by a smidge over 2 inches, the H&Rs about 1.2). I find my Koni+H&R combination to be very comfy and handle nicely.

I’d really recommend an upgrade to your head unit for a huge QOL change on these things. My 05 has the JDM surround that cost $300 or so a year ago, bet it’s more now. Put a Sony XAV-AX1000 in it and have Apple CarPlay and much better audio quality. Single best upgrade to the car!

Good luck with all the mods and fun things on your car.

Ya I already did the jdm double din. I have an alpine ilx-w650 in mine. It is a lot better than stock even added an oem subwoofer for the added sound. It’s by no means big bass but I think it gets the job done nicely.
