Pictures: VF52 next to VF40

Recommended Posts

I just got my VF52 in the mail today and before install, enthusiast and I snapped some pics.

The VF52 is the nice and clean one. Notice the exhaust wheel, the Vf52's is much bigger.

How to properly prime your turbo:

Initial impressions:

On our test drive I can tell this is going to be a great street turbo. Currently I am running a base VF40 map from Clark Tuner for my 08 WRX, and it ran very well.

The turbo felt very smooth, there was no iniial hit or jerk, just nice and steady power. I think alot of people will like this upgrade. I will post later reviews once the tune is all dialed in.

Oh and enthusiast thanks for all your help with the install.

how long are you going to break it in for before beating on it?

I primed it as shown in the picture and also pulled the fuel pump fuse and cranked it 3 times for 10 seconds each. I then let it idle for about ten minutes. After that I took it for a test drive, initially I was taking it real easy and it felt pretty good so I wen't WOT, and I was grinning from ear to ear. I think I am going to take it easy until my tune is all dialed in. I will only go WOT for loggin purposes only.

thanks for the pics, I'm interested to see what this will make over the stock turbo, could be a possible upgrade for myself. i've been tempted to do a turbo upgrade, but not feeling having to upgrade pump/injectors and whatever needs to go with it...

I don't think pump and injectors would be necesarry with this turbo.

That may depend on model year legacy. The 05-06 LGT I believe has 520cc injectors and the 07+ has 560cc injectors. I'm not sure if they have the same pump. I don't know what pump/injector size the 09 WRX has. Also, it may depend on what octane you have available. You can run a little leaner with higher octane.

I have an 05 so I hope I don't need anything. I use 93 octane here. The car P&L put it on was an 08 as is collegemt's car so they have larger injectors than I do.

My installer/tuner like some milage on the turbo before putting it on the dyno.

looking forward to your results.

just a quick question, should the new turbo have dents like that?

the vf52 does for some reason. Probably to shoe-horn it into postion. I wonder if the dents are on the inside also or only on the outside wall.

Marvel engineering. Like with VF46 first in the world 5-arc design, they'll claim VF52 has first in the world 2-dent design
