2005 subaru
Can you please advise as to exactly what specific front sway bar I should tell my mechanic to put on my 2005 Legacy GT? I’m having this done to soften the ride and make it feel less bumpy and stiff. I went to the Subaru dealership to get a recall fixed and I had a chance to ask them about this. They said that the bushings are shot and need replacing and that I would feel a noticeable difference if I replaced the current front sway bar. When my mechanic first looked at the car he also said that a front sway bar may help, but he wasn’t sure. Please keep answers simple. Thanks in advance. KartRacerBoy
If you want a soft ride (ick), stay with the stock sway bar. Aftermarket bars are always stiffer and will only make the ride stiffer (but not much).

If a mechanic is not sure, don't trust him. He should be 100% sure what he's doing and advising you on. If you're really worried about harshness just buy some poly bushings and stick with the stock bar.
traildogck
So there were 2 stock sizes for the Gen4. 18mm and 20mm, or 19mm, I cannot remember for sure, Bu the dealer wanted to know because there are 2 bushing sizes when I picked up new stock bushings. So, if you have the larger stock bar now...you could drop a size. CKE SSP product information and sales : chris.ckessp@gmail.com
