OEM (Ford) LED Fog Lights

Recommended Posts

2015-2017 Ford Mustang LED Fog lights (H11)

Part No FR3Z-15200-A (FR3B-15K201-AE stamped on light housing)

These are made by Valeo who is the OE supplier for Mercedes, Volvo, etc for LED DRLs and various light housings. These are direct fit for our 5th Gen Legacys.

The housing is identical to our stock fog lights in every dimension and include a male H11 socket for our female OEM harness connector. Plug and Play!!!

OEM Subaru fog housing is on the left.

Here are the pics. These took me a total of 20 minutes to install, no modifications necessary. As you can see, they use optics to create the unique light pattern and cutoff and appear to be somewhere in the 5k to 6k color temp range. (They look a little green in my daytime pics, that's just my phone)

Some night time pics. I absolutely love these. The pattern is very useful and far better than our stock fogs. You can see where the light is hitting the ground in front of the car.

Just a quick note from a few minutes of searching: the part # you posted (FR3B-15K201-AE) doesn't pull up hardly any results in Google for a place to buy them. I *think* the Ford part number for searching/buying is actually FR3Z-15200-A. I searched that and got loads of results. I think the FR3B number is what's stamped into the light housing itself (saw that in one ebay listing). Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Will these fit 2013-2014 as a plug and play? My 2013 fogs appear larger but that could simply be the big chrome bezel around them. My fogs are so pitted from road sand/debris that they almost useless now.

Also, are the Ford LED housings glass or plastic?

Good call with the Lamin-x (hopefully clear) overlays Joe.

I installed a pair over a set of replacement OEM fog housings after I replaced my originals maybe 5 years ago. After just 3 years the unprotected stock ones were pitted and sandblasted into dim foggy oblivion (as one of the comments above), the replacements are still clear and undamaged thanks to the Lamin-x... 5 years and counting.

Soap water and a heatgun or a good hairdryer help with the install, but the perimitter doesnt have to be perfect, any folds and imperfections beyond the lense get hidden behind the bezel anyway.

The lenses are plastic like our stock units. I used Lamin-x to protect them and it was super easy to install.

Pretty sure the post facelift (2013-2014) housings are the same as the pre facelift (2010-2012) and only the trim bezel is different.

Pretty sure mine was glass, one of them shattered from a rock impact. But I ordered the kit from Annapolis subaru. I am fairly certain the aftermarket replacements I got were glass as well.
Our only glass option is the JDM multi-coat fog lights, all USDM fogs are polycarbonate plastic.

I pulled the trim cover off and took a few photos. MY 2013 fogs appear to be identical to the Ford ones.

Can anyone confirm the plug harness is identical? It appears to be, with the only difference being that my OEM fog bulb has a 90 degree fitting so that the female harness plugs in facing up, rather than horizontally.

I also see that the factory only uses the 2 inner screws and the outer just slide into a groove. And the screws face fwd and were probably installed with the bumper off at the factory that way.

I'm really excited about this. I've been anxious to replace these but didn't want to get some wild aftermarket/modified lights. These Ford lights seem perfect, and I want to get the lamin-x.

Where is the best place to get such a small piece for each light, and cheap?

thanks!

A few vendors (including our forum vendors I believe) sell them pre-cut to shape. I don't remember where I got mine, too many years ago. Measure the diameter or radius as they usually have a pick-list for that or will ask when ordering.

The only other matter to confirm for the 2013+ is are the fogs still JDM H16 aka USDM H11? Is so, these should work as-is, if however Subaru switched the socket a bit to some other socket type (I think they did if my memory is still at least partially intact)... some creative work or adapters might be needed.

We had some fun years ago realizing the ADM Liberty fogs were different from USD and actually have 2 bulbs in them making USDM<->ADM swaps tricky.

I reached in from the opening available in the bumper with the bezel removed and swapped mine. There is just enough room in the 10-12 bumper to reach in and get the fogs in and out, doing the fastener removal and reinstall by feel.

IIRC, the H16 and H11 connectors are the same, it's the bulbs themselves that are slightly different, specifically the interface between the bulb and housing.

I'll ask my brother in law what his cost would be for these. He's a assistant in the parts Dept at the local Ford dealership. If there's a fair amount of interest right away for these I can cover costs and then just have anyone reimburse me. I'll report back

...this is a great find, I'll probably grab a set of these. The only issue for me is how can you get a nice yellow output from these. It's my understanding that yellow film w/led equals lemon-lime goodness.

This may be what you're looking for. Need to do the customize option to get yellows LED's. Plus they're an upgrade to glass lenses so they won't fog up.

Diode Dynamics

I've never used this company before, but seem to be of quality and they're somewhat local to me. I work at a Ford dealer and had a few customers/salesmen have us install their other LED's. No issues that I've heard/seen.
