Tips to fix loose wing mirror?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

Hoping for some advice. The drivers side wing mirror on my Subaru Legacy RS 30 has become loose. It needs to be fixed to get a WOF, but service centre has suggested removing it and replacing with a second hand one at a cost of around $400 (around US$260) - I don't care if the folding mechanism doesn't work anymore so was thinking about trying to fix myself.

The video above shows the issue. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to approach, if at all? I was considering even something as simple as superglue through to removing it and trying to jam something inside it.

Hey dude. I had this same issue on my passenger side. I just ended up throwing in a piece of plastic to jam it. It was the same shape as a cable tie just a little thicker and wider and fed it through the whole way round. Little stiff getting it in but works perfectly. :)
