Draining the fuel tank without dropping it by cycling fuel pump into fuel can

Possible and/or ok to disconnect the fuel supply line at the engine, attach a hose, and cycle the key on and off to pump the gas into a gas can?

 

Just completing a new build, gas has been sitting in the tank for 8mos and I don't want to risk any bad gas on the inital startup. I am pretty sure I only have 2 gallons or less in the tank.

Shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure you aren't going to completely drain your battery.

I'm glad it's only like 2, I believe I have just over half a tank. Wish I drained it that year but was assuming the car was gonna be running in 6 months with stabil treatment. Let us know how it goes.

If you only have 2 gallons in the tank just fill it up and it should work fine.

pretty sure there's a drain bolt you can unscrew to drain the tank without dropping it... my old Legacy had it on the passenger side behind a little cover.
