SpecDubC
Hey there, just checking, does anyone know if there is a difference between the 08 LGT axle and 08 Spec B axle for the FRONT? It seemed like when I was looking on simple part through dealer site it was showing something different with the clips but is there really a difference with the CV or anything. Asking because I am headed to either get mine rebuilt today or a new one with core charge from a quality rebuild shop here in Denver. Not sure if that is accurate or not though, I thought I had read they were different; but maybe the difference is only related to auto = more likely to vibrate as idle than manual. Says applies to 107 model variants there so that helps. Trying to get it pulled and exchange so I can get the thing up and running again over the long weekend. Max Capacity
GT front and Spec B fronts are the same axles. We just went through this about a week ago. Rears are different. Infosecdad
Different rears makes sense because of different differentials in the rear.

Max Capacity
To seat the inner spring slip, you may have to install the outer end in the hub, put the ball joint back in, jack up the LCA so the axle is level, put a 2x4 block on the axle end and hit it with a 5lb hammer. Frank from the Drive Shaft Shop told me that years ago. Edited September 8, 2020 by Max Capacity 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. Infosecdad
I didn't have to go that far, I just held it up level by hand a couple inches out, and just popped it in with a quick thrust. Worked smoothly on both front axles.
SpecDubC
I've already got the whole lca off and having to replace a torn boot on my whiteline ball joint. I'll just use some force on it. Snowing today so that'll have to wait until tomorrow. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
giveaholla
I hope I'm not hijacking this thread. I had a similar question and glad to know the front axles are the same for regular legacy and spec. B variants. I have a 09 spec B that is clicking when turning (either left or right) slowly on full wheel lock. I presume it's a CV axle but unsure if it's the left or right side. I guess my mechanic would have to see which one is more worn out. Is the axle interchangeable with left and right sides? And would I need to purchase anything else or would the CV axle assembly have everything I need for a replacement? https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_2009_Legacy-25L-TURBO-6MT-4WD-GT-Limited-Sedan/CV-Axle-Front/49238069/28321AG00D.html thanks! Max Capacity
From your link, there is only one part number for either front axle. No left or right. https://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/idea-web-links-saved-various-parts-219238.html There are links to axles in that thread if you need. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs.
