WRX USA's 09 OBXT Build Thread

Looking good and pretty sporty rear end actually. I am suspecting that the 'new' exhaust hangers you'll use will provide better centering of your mufflers too.

It turns out that I do have a little bit of a melting issue with the vinyl and the location of the exhaust. I’m going to go back to the vinyl place after I get the tips centered and see what they can do.

I picked up the door card pieces today and the paint matching to the grey JDM dash pieces is near perfect. I’m going to get my door cards together and get them installed later this week and then all I need are black front seat belts to complete the black swap.

I also put on another 300 miles today and I’m just over 1,050 miles on the new build. Power tune is tomorrow.

Is the melting happening on the 'sides' of the cutout or the upper portion of it (right above the muffler tip)?

The bumper is perfectly fine it is just the vinyl on the Liberal piece right next to the tip.

I’m not usually strapped to the road like this though...

Sure. But I bet if you push her hard in 1st gear, she will squat man. Hopefully not like this one :spin::

Congrats nonetheless. That must feel nice. I wish I had that kind of power.

I am curious are those JDM seat belts that he sold you? if so are they plug and play or do they need to be modified to work, only thing I am missing for my interior swap.

I never responded to your PM as I got a little side tracked but thanks for sending me that I wish I had seen them before I bought the '15 sti ones.

They are ‘07 USDM front belts so they should be plug and play. I have ‘05 JDM front belts and I don’t think they will work on any LHD car. I sent a pic of the right side one to Gunnar (aka MagnusonSubie) and he said he had never seen a set like that before. The JDM belts that I got for the back seat swapped right in.

On the visors, I saw that you were interested but when you asked where they came from you never got an answer so I thought I’d help you out. How do the ‘15 STi ones work? Did you have to make any medications? I also imagine that they have the slide out extensions which the JDM ones don’t have.

Surgeline also installed these WC Lathewerks titanium shift boot retainer and reverse lockout that I’ve had ever since I got the 6MT swap. The titanium parking brake button I did myself.

I attempted to install the titanium parking brake button on the OEM parking brake and the button did not screw off. Well, it did but not in way that it was supposed to. Luckily I had the STi parking brake for the EDM center console swap and it is a direct fit. The 6MT came with a Cobb double adjustable short throw and the reverse lockout had some marks on it from the previous owner that always bothered me. The WC Lathewerks boot retainer DOES NOT work with a SpecB lever since the screws are in different locations (STi - from the bottom on a bracket mounted on the lever, SpecB - through the side of the retainer into the lever). I speculated and Surgeline confirmed that taking the top half off the STi short throw and putting it in my car allowed everything to fit. Obviously, the smart thing to do if you were starting from scratch would be just buy the STi short throw lever for the ‘08+.

I installed the proper EDM center console mounting bracket (92178AG110) and wired up the cup holder illumination. While I had the center console out I replaced the cup holder surround with the piece I had paint matched to the JDM gunmetal dash pieces. I also hard wired my Waylens dash cam and Escort radar detector. Edited by WRX USA

Where's the pic? :hide:

The OEM lip skirts’ 3M totally failed on my 1500 mile drive so I wanted to get them back on before I took pics. They are held on by 2 clips and a screw so they didn’t go anywhere, even at speeds over 100mph.

I covered my extra set of A pillars in black Alcantara and installed them. I’ll get some pics tomorrow with better lighting.

I plan on doing my B and C pillars as well, and installing my black front seat belts when I install the B pillars.

someting you dont have !:)

I know about that. I could have gotten one a couple years ago. Now all three of those buttons do something on my car.

I’ve never looked into it, is there a corresponding cover that goes over it?
