There is a member RuskiTrombone on here selling his Volk GT-V. I love that style wheel but I'm not fond of polished or chrome lips.

The question is to sell my set and buy his or keep my CE28's.

CE28N (I know I'm a little biased but still) :D

I've eyed RT's wheels for sale myself. Not sure about your roads, but having 19s in my area is asking for issues with rough roads and less sidewall to protect expensive wheels/suspension etc. Tires are crazy expensive for the bastardized 19" size. you're not gaining much width at 1/2". I also am not sure what type of driving you do, but if you like to just "show" your car the 19s are great, if you want more "go" with your car keep those 13.5lb 17s and enjoy the performance they offer without sacrificing as much ride comfort.

The GT-Vs are not extremely heavy for a 19 with forged barrels and cast centers. CE28Ns will always be lighter in the same size as those. Color isn't an issue since obviously you can break down that 2 piece wheel and powder coat whatever combo you want.

Those would be points I weigh the decision on, and for me I opted to stick with my 17" CE28Ns rather than getting those 19s. I think that LALGT should get them and PC them "Spiderpig" colors for his show ride!

keep yours. black with polished lip is sooo 2002.

 Seriously??? Porsche, as one example, has been putting black/polished lip wheels on cars since at least the 70's. It's hardly a look from the 2000's.

OP, I love your CE28's, but I think they would look better in 18" or maybe even 19".

Roads are mild. We pay more money to resurface our roads every year. I try to get to one drag race a year but that rarely happens. But I'm mainly for show.

I love the 17's since it does offer better sidewalls. That's why I opt for stock 55 series tires. I can't afford to bend or damage $2200 wheels.

If I was to purchase the 19's I would powder coat them full bronze. But that would be something for winter of 2013.

So confused right now.

Umm...yah. Srsly. Last time I checked, he's not driving a Porsche.

I just lost two of my CE28 18x7.5, gunmetal with polished lips because of this...Well, maybe, I'll never find out now. Some construction work going on and I was running 225/40-18. Hit a recess in the pavement going 40MPH (posted speed limit for the zone) and it was completely unavoidable without either going into the wall or going into an adjacent lane where there was a car. The moment I hit, I had a bad feeling my rims were smashed.

Got a new set of cheaper $119/ea rims in size 17x7.5 with 225/45-17 tires. The extra bit of sidewall should help...

I'm still mourning my loss. :(

I like the CE28's. The GT-V's are a nice wheel, but not to today's standards I think. I do have a bias toward OBP with bronze wheels though...

Slightly OT, but... what wheels are those?

They're the sames ones I got to replace my Volks, but in bronze.

I got my bright silver ones in 17x7.5 for $119 each, they're on closeout sale. The 18x7.5 are $129. All of the other shades of colors are going for $148 for 17x7.5 and $176 for 18x7.5.

Weight on them is pretty good too at 18.8 lbs for 17" and 20.4 for 18". And Sparco is a subdivision or something of O.Z. so they should be pretty good. :)

Going from a 17 to a 19 is a big step up in weight too. I know my 18x8 Mercury Silver GT-Vs are 19 lb.5 lbs and the 19s IIRC are at least 23 lbs. each. Not sure the process that RT used to refinish so that weight could be more or less.

Sorry - knew they were PC'd, just didn't know how many coat process it was, i.e., base, top, clear, or just base coat. Each layer adds weight.
