05MNLGT
these are another "holy grail" part for the s402. got these from a friend in jpn. his s402 was totaled by a tree falling on his car. almost new quality. has a two treatment powder coating. the outside is the metallic silver, inside the rim is a more durable lt. gray, non metallic coating. nerdy i know. 05MNLGT
the only part for the rear hatch it the badging, s402/sti. bought the real badging for jpn that had the blue foam cutouts for placement. that was cool. even save the foam! the tails, bumper, garnish are all part of the standard post facelift jdm bp5. added the STI jdm bumper lip cover. was an add on from STI. 05MNLGT
yes, even ordered the sti lip install kit. the same kit for the non-carbon lip.
05MNLGT
intermission. here is the rear view, open hatch. all black interior.
05MNLGT
now the interior dash and door trim for the s402 had "fake" carbon fibre. since I wasn't doing the RHD, I op'd to have LHD ones created. So not true "s402", but dam impressive none the less.
05MNLGT
the s402 used the same visors as other jdm, but these came from my friends totalled s402, so adding them anyway.
05MNLGT
same as the visors. no big difference other then they came out of an s402. couldn't use the front dome lights as mine has the sunroof. had to find an edm black one to use.
05MNLGT
yes there is a difference between the silver mirror covers and the s402 covers. but super super hard to tell. only way to really tell is the part number.
05MNLGT
this is the sti SS used on the tbsti/s402. same one you can buy from subaru. did upgrade the rear shift bushings to solid and a new shifter retainer with all new hardware.
05MNLGT
this was a pain in the butt too get. was just stupid expensive. part and shipping!!!! was in too deep to stop. was in showroom condition. even still had the curb protector still on. usually they don't last. i only put on in the summers. remove in the winter, even though i hardly drive it in the winter. 05MNLGT
this was something i stumbled on too. the jdm flap is totally different then the USDM part. this goes to jdm parts are made better category. the usdm flap is a cheap two plastic part. rubber is brittle and breaks. the jdm one, used on the s402 and another LGT is a one piece, softer plastic. 05MNLGT
also had the rear jdm foglight wired up. had to find a edm stalk for the LHD. so the foglight can be switched on manually to freak out tailgaters. not an s402 part, but done to replicate the look. 05MNLGT
did the specb/tbsti/s402 trailing arms, same as the usdm specb ones, but the lower control arms have the spherical bearing in them vs the rubber ones. not a huge difference.

05MNLGT
these again were from my friend in jpn. in great shape and on the car.
05MNLGT
now these aren't true s402 calipers. brembo has made them better for the 2018 WRX/STI RA. chose to go with these, still not cheap by any stretch.
05MNLGT
didn't use the foam floor panel that came with the strut bar. it exposed the bar and i use my wagon a lot. so i modified the current floor panel to "conceal" the bar.
05MNLGT
completely lucked out and found an jdm s402 subframe for sale. the different is they use solid bushings instead of the rubber ones. I believe the tbsti has the same bushings. the subframe is the same frame used in most jdm/edm/usdm models i've found. i couldn't verify the part came out of an s402, but the seller did have the right VIN/serial number for the s402. guess that will have to work. 05MNLGT
here is a view of the bottom of what few will ever see. last part to install is the bilsteins. tons of powder coating (which i did for fun).
05MNLGT
then there is the stuff many people don't list when doing an s402. Propaganda, aka, marketing crap.
05MNLGT
found this cheap in jpn. just needed some good cleaning. powdered the brackets for protection. also added 3m film to the bar for protection. the bracket has an oval hole for adjusting, cool discovery. 05MNLGT
this wasn't on the s402, but a cool jdm sti add. really locks the tranny in place.
05MNLGT
more done, just can't remember everything. i'll post as I remember or do more. it's been a 5 year and counting process. why you ask? why not i respond. couldn't wait for a billzon years to import one. only regret was not learning about the non-sunroof GT version until well into the project. that would have been the cats meow. 2021 to-do list - Install s402 bilstiens with sti springs - Install 6pot front brakes - Finishing up DRL wiring to work with current harness - Install edm post dash, glove box and lower knee panel (yes there is a difference) - Install rear jdm cargo panel and power jdm rear seat should be finished just in time to import the real thing. sad, but true. on-going thanks to valleylegacy. you started me down this rabbit hole!!!! 05MNLGT
I'm in the process of buying an '05 Subaru legacy GT with the intentions of upgrading the car with the S402 parts, will everything be compatible on this car? and to answer this question that started this thread. No.
