Wheel/Tire Size on Koni inserts

Recommended Posts

So this question was probably answered before already in the forum but I just wanted to confirm.

I am in search of a new wheel and tire combo. I have Koni inserts with the OEM lower strut housing paired with RCE Black springs. I noticed many people are running 18" (235 or 245) (40 or 45) and was wondering about clearance with the OEM lower strut housing. I have my heart set on either Koni Oversteer or TSW Nurbburgring wheels.

I don't want to go to 19" because I feel like that is too big for this vehicle and daily driving with horrible Michigan roads.

I would appreciate the forum's feedback. Thank you in advance.

Just for reference mostly, I've attached two pics. Enkei TS10 18x8.5 et45. One of my car (black) with 245/45R18 and A_Aron's that has the exact same wheels but 245/40R18. Kinda give you an idea of 40 or 45 profile. 45 is slightly larger diameter than stock for the 3.6R. 40 is slightly smaller.

As for wheels, you've got:

Konig Oversteer OS89510429 (18×9) et42 - 22.35lbs which will stick out almost a cm more than mine (would be a nice flush fit I would think) and its 3.4mm closer to the strut. I'm pretty sure this is within clearance but double check. I might be able to look and see tomorrow. I should note you MAY have to play the pull/roll game with the fenders to keep them from rubbing. I'm not certain.

The Nurburgring TSW's I only see:

1880NUR455100G72 (18x8) et45 - 18lbs for 5x100

I don't see any for 18x8.5 or 18x9 for 5x100.

Finding wheels you like and that fit is a fun game.

I'm also on Konis/RCE blacks! I am running a 255/40/18 tire on 18x8.75 +36 wheel. As far as strut clearance, there's no issue. I did have to roll all four corners cuz of the offset on my wheel tho

Thanks for the feedback guys and for the reference pictures. Wow I didn't know a 255 tire would fit on the Koni setup.

Yeah finding wheels you like is a fun game.

I think 255 is safely the widest tire you can go without rubbing on the front struts. You might be able to go 265 with a higher offset, but I'm guessing a good amount of fender work would need to be done

Thanks guys for the information. I think I settled on a combination.

Konig Ampliform 18 X8.5 44 offset

(I like the design, look like STi OEM wheels, and affordable flow formed wheels)

MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4S 255 /45 R18

(I don't want to go lower than 45 because the roads in Michigan are terrible)

Now to save up

Hopefully they would fit. Ran it through willtheyfit.com and it says about 11mm closer to the strut.
