David E
Think my headgaskets are gone. Car has overheated twice. Turn on the heater and temp comes back down to normal. Runs fine most of the time. Assuming it is the headgaskets I will have to take it in to have it done. So if I'm going to pay someone to do the work what else should I have done since the engine will be out? Lsnaple
Are you losing coolant? Check to see if you have lots of bubbles in your overflow tank when the car is running.
underground000
under what kind of driving conditions make the temp rise, how far did the needle get too? have you ever changed the coolant? you can get a hydrocarbon test done on the coolant, it should tell you if there is a leak in the head gasket get your spark plugs changed too when the engines out 5eat downshift rev match:) Powder coated wheels: completed:)
monkeyposeur
Here is a list of things that I would replace while the engine is out: Head gaskets, cam seals, crank seal, timing belt, timing components, spark plugs, wires, oil filter. Reseal your oil pump and check the screws for tightness. I would check the rear main seal and oil separator plate for leaks and if they are leaking replace them. Also check the oil pan seal for leaks.
