6MT Master Swap Thread

Yeah so the two wires coming from the 6 speed transmission I need to replace from the 5 speed transmission? And if I don’t have those two wires dose anyone have a part number or know anyone that has the parts I need

 

You need the 5mt neutral safety switch and 5mt reverse sensor. I don’t know part numbers. They screw into the trans.

Ok car won’t street I did the harness swap everything turns on but dosent turn over?? And it shuts off as soon as I crank it????

 

Check your grounds.

 

Check your vacuum lines.

 

Check your fuel lines.

 

Reset ecu learning.

 

Call a Subaru tuning shop.

I'll second this. Also, what do you mean by 'it shuts off as soon as I crank'....as in it won't let it crank or it fires up and instantly dies?

 

Pull a coil offer, slap a spare plug in it and put the spark plug against the cylinder head while cranking. You'll see the ark if you have ignition.

 

Next is check fueling. You can crank and if you have the means to inspect the ports, see that they're wet. There are other means to check voltage to the injectors.

 

Before that, you can validate that you have fuel pressure by pulling the feed line, grabbing a vessel and keying-on.

 

Double check that your MAF is connected and oriented in the correct direction.

 

Vacuum leaks will usually allow you to fire up but will run like crap or die very quickly.

Ok so now it starts but dies rite after, and the locks on the door don’t work along with key fob,

For all the discussion about reusing the 5MT NSS there is no actual part # for 5MT NSS listed?

 

I'd rather buy a new one than transfer 13-years old from my 5MT.

 

Here is the 2005 GT/XT (ONLY) part # for 5MT NSS: 32008AA113. Other BL/BP years use different part number 2006 on.

I am still waiting on those parts from SOA. I can't imagine parts being in the system and not being available.

My TiC "Holy STI Shift Set" has shipped today. Yay! This 6MT swap may actually happen this year.

 

 

 

I've been waiting for some parts, large and small, mostly because I want to replace what was worn/got rusty before I bolt everything up and put it on the car. I have 13 years/218K on my original 5MT setup and it is coming of in great shape of the car this far. I want to have all new shifting gear and that's what's been holding me back, right now waiting on lower shift gear stay that is supposedly coming from Oregon (fingers crossed).

I bought 2005 STI flywheel, clutch disk and pressure plate with STI TOB for this project, is that correct set of parts? Putting Mike's STI 6MT in my car.
