audioman79
My customer's car is a 05 legacy with with stock head unit and door speakers. He added aftermarket Alpine PDX 600.1 amp and Alpine Type R 12" sub woofer to the oem system a few years ago. He decided that he wanted more from his audio system by doing a full SQ build with the highest quality products for his budget. Since this is his daily driver he needed the car for work and could not leave it for a extended amount for time. So Im working on the car in stages. So it will take 3-4 trips to the shop to complete the build. Also he lives 1.5 hrs away from the shop. Goals for the build - Achieve high level sound quality and get loud when needed. - minimal trunk space lost and retain stock look and spare tire. - keep all panels stealth in appearance Equipment - JVC KW-AV60 6.1" double din dvd/cd head unit receiver - Illusion Audio Carbon C6 2way components for the front stage( Backed ordered should be here by 3/15/13 - Arc Audio Black Series 12D4 12" subwoofer - Arc Audio KS 300.4 4channel amp for the component set in BI-amp mode - Arc Audio KS 300.2 2 Channel amp bridged to one channel for the sub picture of the car http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130305_110015_zps75db494e.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130305_105954_zps07a51332.jpg JVC head unit http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130224_131339_zpsea359b90.jpg JVC head unit installed in the dash http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130226_220846_zpsa590783a.jpg
audioman79
Moving onto the trunk area where the sub enclosure and amp rack will be located. I built the enclosure in two parts. I started with the lower, by building a foundation mold. but without the car be present I had to come up with another ways of doing this. I Had four circles left over from another build that I could use for the lower part of the box. Since I had four, i decided to do two boxes at the same time just in case someone in the future would like something similar in their legacy. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130227_110007_zpsa53861c5.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130227_122822_zpsf5053a24.jpg Foundation is complete, now it time to wrap it with 1/8 black trunk liner that will soak up the resin very well. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130227_125554_zpsb4ea0367.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130227_130935_zpsa8d535d0.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130228_115420_zpsbf982908.jpg

Karumba
Sounds like it will be a decent build. But in my head, I'm wondering why someone would do 3-4 trips to get it done. In my head it would be cheaper overall to rent a car while you work on it - especially if the shop is 1.5 hours away. That is just me though, and everyone can choose to do what they'd like to in life. audioman79
Still waiting for the illusion audio c6 components to come in... but I did get a few other items they had in stock. pics of the tweeters and crossovers and the basket seem pretty good quality for a component set that retails under $300. Can wait to get my hands on the $1k C6 components. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130314_031752_zps6bc976b6.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130314_033553_zpsb2eb8350.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130314_031523_zps45e7fe11.jpg

audioman79
Had a few hours today to do some more wiring under the hood, cleaning up the old wiring from a previous install, measuring for the panels. Started the alarm install, just have a few wires left to run and program next time. I also replaced the old AGU 60amp fuse holder to a ANL fuse holder with larger fuse. http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130320_131428_zps999ae2e6.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130320_131433_zps3232ebc0.jpg http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss63/customaudioman/20130320_131504_zpsc986f18f.jpg
