Iltl32
Watched a few videos and they all just say remove the nut. The axle spins freely with the nut though. What am I missing? Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
Shawn06SpecB
Not sure which location you're referring to and I've completely down a 4th gen lgt to the bare chassis, a diagram or photo would go a long way. Sometimes bolts get rusted in bushing etc, making removal a much more difficult task than it should be.
Iltl32
This bolt. The 32mm that girls the hub to the axle. It'd not a matter of rust, the issue is that the axle spins with the nut so there's no way to torque the nut. Shawn06SpecB
with out the e-brake I think your only option is a large pry but the nut is still peened over the end of the axle. Edited April 18, 2021 by Shawn06SpecB
Iltl32
Nevermind, got it by holding a crowbar between the studs. Sent from my SM-G991U using Tapatalk
Max Capacity
You break torque on that axle nut, before you lift the car off the ground. Then remove it once jacked up. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. JmP6889928
Glad you got it off. Put a wheel/tire on it without a center cap (spare works good for this too), sit on the floor so the car's weight is on it, break it loose.
jams20
Car needs to be on the ground to torque it too. Keep the center cap off for this as well. Avoid rejack/tire removal process i went through the first time.
whitetiger
why not just go get a cheap electric 1/2" drive impact gun and uggadugga it off. if you dont have one, its good to have in general in your tool arsenal. my cheap ryobi one will take them off all day long. xt2005bonbon
I usually keep the rotor and brake pads on, lift the car, ask my wife to press super hard on the brake pedal. That's it. Just did that (for the 15th time maybe ) a couple of weeks back.
