I'm considering getting rid of my Sirius and getting and iPod connector. Has anyone purchased this before?

I've seen others, more expensive ones but this one seems to charge the phone, and put out text so it has all the features I'd want. Just want to make sure if it is as good as it seems.

Yes, I have this unit in my '09 in conjunction with the iSimple Bluetooth gateway as well (http://www.autotoys.com/x/product.php?productid=11457). The iPod controller has 2 modes. Full control and "Aux" which mean you control the music from the phone and head unit controls are limited to next/previous track. I personally found the full control method a pain to use. It's so much easier to control music from the iPhone directly and still have the ability to skip/next track from the head unit (or steering wheel if your car has it). Now, that said, I don't use the cable to hook the phone up directly at all anymore. With the Bluetooth addon, the iPhone will pair with the unit and stream via A2DP. Still allowing next/previous track as well as pause and voice dial control directly from the head unit of the car. So I can just toss the phone on the passenger seat and pause by hitting "2" on the car stereo. If a call comes it, it pause the music, talk via the speakerphone (microphone mounted next to my rear view mirror) and then goes back to music when hung up. It's pretty slick. Basically it's a complete addon bluetooth system for the car for around $200 which isn't a bad deal really.

Yes, that's it. Installation was OK. I have manual climate so it was a PITA to pull the stereo. I ended up pulling it just enough to slide my hands behind and plug the iSimple units in. Then it just tucked the small boxes away, ran the 2 cables. One for mic up the A-Pillar and over to the rear-view mirror and 1 for the iPod cable under the center console. Pairing is simple and A2DP streaming sounds great. Just as good as the existing Aux-In.

HOWEVER... if you have a 2006, this may or may not work for you. Some other links for the product, it would seem that 2008-> are what is listed as compatible. If your stereo has a "SAT" button, this may work though.

This is the company that makes this and their listing for 2006 Legacy:

I have the isimple as well, along with the bluetooth and hd radio add-on modules. If you can remove your headunit then installation is very simple - just plug in and hide the modules.

The controls take a while to get used to since it maps to the 1-6 buttons on the headunit, but it all works very well.

I think I'll get it then. So is there any need for the iphone plug other than to charge it? since I will be using the bluetooth

No, none at all. I actually charge the phone from a plain old USB charging cable and not the iSimple cable. I made my coin holder in the center console into a dock and I just set it in there when I need to charge. I leave the iSimple iPod cable just tucked underneath the passenger seat and the only reason it's still hooked up is for when my wife takes my car so she can listen to music. I don't have her phone paired with the BT unit so she just uses the cable.

I'm glad this helped someone else! And you'll definitely be happy with the setup

So you got the kit for $219?

This is exactly what I want! Any buzzing in the audio?

Awesome. I think I'll order today. It looks like I can order the two parts separately, and save $15.
