magnusonsubie
Use at your own risk. Tino's Automotive in Lynnwood. Recently lots of reviews have surfaced on Facebook of people having bad experiences there. Granted it seems most of the people having issues are are kids (I know they are the same age as me. I'm ashamed) that want to just beat on their cars with no sense of the respect and attention the cars require. However with that in mind use at your own risk. 2005 Vader Wagon Material Tests on Ringland Failure Piston I should have held off and purchased a wagon instead of the spec.B
LegacyKid5
As far as dealerships go I'm not the biggest fan of going to the dealer for work to be done. However my experience today with Eastside Subaru in Kirkland was absolutely fantastic. I got on the list yesterday for the dash extended warranty and had the dash replaced today. Dropped my car off at 9:30 this morning and they immediately grabbed it and got to work. Gave me a loaner for the day and then I came back around 4 to check on everything and they took me back into the shop to see the car as the tech was putting it back together. Got it back around 4:40 and was on my way home. It hadn't occurred to me at first but they must have written down all my radio presets since when I started driving home all my presets were still there. Definitely A+ customer service and work quality. Also helps that the Service Advisor I talked to is also an LGT owner and is one of the best service advisors in the area as far as I've heard. Definitely to second this, Eastside is the only dealership I trust with my car and Nichi always takes care of me. It's nice to drop my car off knowing it will be taken care of to my high standards and not taken out for a joyride by a tech. Thanks for that write up about Eastside. I don't want to take my car to Walkers, and I'm unsure of Scarff. Chaplins is definitely out. Do you recall which service writer you had? SC Nichi is who he's referring to and is great! As Gunnar mentioned he also drives a heavily modified LGT wagon.

But anyway I'm tempted for any future dealer required work I need done to make the hour drive down to Eastside purely because of how well they treat their customers. He didn't have his wagon at work that day though. He's been driving his Carerra C4S he bought more than he originally thought he would  2005 Vader Wagon Material Tests on Ringland Failure Piston I should have held off and purchased a wagon instead of the spec.B

Well if anyone is going to Eastside after reading this hopefully they ask for him. Haha That's funny, he was in the middle of buying the Porsche last time I was there. axisofevol
My friend in Seattle needs to get front brake work done (calipers aren't releasing properly, so calipers replaced, rotors turned, new pads) and the dealer (not sure which) quoted him $800. I told him to look for some brake specialist shops and get a few other quotes before committing to anyone. So, any of you guys have recs for a good brake-specialist shop, or a shop that can do a bang-up job on this for something less than $800? That seems excessive to me. I would do it myself but I live in Portland, and the car is at a point where it's not really safe to drive this far at highway speeds. I really just might do everything myself and just check to be sure my valves seal after re-lapping.
shralp
Cobb used Bearing Services in downtown PDX for awhile and now use a place in Troutdale that does a lot of high performance exotic big power head work. I believe they are wholesale only

maineSubi
Looking for a shop in the Portland area to do a pre-purchase inspection on an 4th gen Outback XT. Found a 5mt with 88k and I'm ready to stop feeling the regret of selling my 05gt every day. It's from a used car dealer but I would like to get a leakdown/compression test, check if banjo bolts are still there and a general run through. Any opinions if it'd be worth it to get the downpipe pulled off and check the turbo for shaft play?
magnusonsubie
I would think Surgeline could do it. 2005 Vader Wagon Material Tests on Ringland Failure Piston I should have held off and purchased a wagon instead of the spec.B
shralp
Yup give Surgeline a call, they really book out so you may have to wait a few days. You could also take it to PRE Racing by the airport or Horizontal Motorsports as well

boxkita
Anyone have experience superior import repair? I'm guessing from your location, that you might have missed this is a regional thread targeting Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. While we do have a Portland, Oregon; it's a bit of a haul from MA. Unless, of course, you have left the eastern seaboard for the left coast. If such an event has occurred, welcome. In direct answer to your question, never heard of them. Then again, with no city/state information, it's hard to render an opinion, no? Build my car Boxkita Track days
maineSubi
I guess I need to update my details! I sold my GT and moved out West, and have since wanted to find a wagon form to replace my fun but relatively useless GTI. Superior Import Repair is a Subaru only shop that seems to be popular among the WRX community here in Portland. I asked because it's closer than surgeline to my potential location of sale and has experience with the seller. I just found out today that the shop is replacing the clutch, I wish I could have taken the car for less and had it done myself. Assuming the OBXT's have the DMFW like my old leggy. Logie_OBXT
I know that Portland has lots of good service places, but is there anywhere near Salem that anyone can recommend? I've done all my work myself, but I've run into an issue where I need to have someone else who has more experience than I do to tell me what's going on with mine. I'd really rather not have to make my wife shuttle me back and forth to Portland for my car which she already despises.
Lgt005
The only 2 shops that I’ll let touch my car Agile Auto in Forrest Hill, MD. Tony and Hill are booth good guys. (#1 choice) IAG Performance in Westminister MD, normally book a while out so call way in advance.

daywalker007
For anyone in the Olympia/JBLM/Tacoma area, I've had good experiences with a couple places: PIA has been mentioned on here and gets my endorsement, although I haven't used them for anything in a few years. I also saw a comment about how there's nothing to do nearby, which is hilariously accurate. Although PLU isn't too far away and is a nice place to stroll. Eddie's Automotive in Olympia has done a great job for me and friends with Subaru's. While Eddie himself also builds and races oval track cars, his shop is not particularly performance oriented. For regular repairs and maintenance though, it's great. Honest, with fair pricing and great service.
boxkita
Dropping a motor off at All wheel drive's new performance shop in Woodinville in the morning for HG work. Idk if it needs just hg or head work. They use C&D for their machine work, so I'm good. They have a Dyna pack (sp) which connects to the hubs instead of rollers. Tempted to let them have a crack at a light tune on the racewagon. We'll see how the hg replacement goes first.
