c123money
Anyone heard this or installed it? Curious if the gain is worth it and what this would sound like on 2.5i? Let me know if anyone has seen or heard, thanks! http://www.avoturboworld.com/avoshop/legacy-stage-package-p-109.html
c123money
Probably should have added these... http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/5495/2stage1pkg.jpg http://img36.imageshack.us/img36/3499/2stage1pkg4.jpg
m_dogg
That dyno graph makes me cry...oh well, racing days are over for me.
katalyst
interesting, didn't know that they had a dyno plot for the stage 1. but that's actually not too bad of a gain considering they're just "bolt-on" mods. i think it would be worth it just for the exhaust note and making the car a bit funner to drive. not necessarily for the numbers. Leviman
My fake dyno graph is showing around 150 hp on a stock motor.... what parameters are you putting into that thing?
halwith
thats the graph from avo's website. at that price it works out to 80$/hp. they say the turbo kit give ~100hp increase for 3200 which is 32$/hp. so the turbo kit is cheaper than the stage one kit. inbeforebuyagtguys. katalyst
My fake dyno graph is showing around 150 hp on a stock motor.... what parameters are you putting into that thing? the avo dyno plot looks correct for stock whp. i have seen one other 2.5i dyno plot in person and have measured my car with a dynalicious app for iphone (i know, not the most accurate) but both actually gave results that show the stock 2.5i generates ~105hp at the wheels. the loss of crank power is likely due to the energy consumption required for the AWD system. Leviman
the avo dyno plot looks correct for stock whp. i have seen one other 2.5i dyno plot in person and have measured my car with a dynalicious app for iphone (i know, not the most accurate) but both actually gave results that show the stock 2.5i generates ~105hp at the wheels. the loss of crank power is likely due to the energy consumption required for the AWD system. Well I was thinking that that graph looks identical to the romraider dyno thing so I figured it might just be that. But those plots really don't mean much unless you're comparing two of them (which they are) so my info really isn't applicable:) But still, 10 HP up top is a respectable gain for just an exhaust (and just axle-back at that), and an air filter (the throttle controller does nothing for power). With a tune there should be more to be had
GEE-OTTO
I wonder if this dyno was take Pre-TuneUp OB, AVO bought that 2.5i OB with 100+ K on the clock with no maintenance records at all. They have to de-gunk the heads and do a lot of typical tuneup work to get it back to stock levels. Im curious if this graph was taken then ? 22% loss mean it should be around 130 awhp but let say it was 30% loss due to crappy engine conditions it shoudl still be around 120 awhp However AVO makes good products
apexjapan
Nah, that was after I did the pre-maintenance. Don't get too obsessed about power figures, different dyno's different numbers is a phrase that will always apply. I always will say this, get the dyno figures only to get a baseline to compare improvements/tuning against. sweet-subaru
"Installing the DBW Controller is very easy, and can be accomplished in as little as 10 minutes. However, once the controller is installed, it will need to be programmed for your vehicle’s specific throttle mapping. Once this is done, it will remain in the Central unit’s memory even if removed from the vehicle." paul can you go into further detail on how to program the controller? and do you have a sound clip of these mufflers ?? apexjapan
It's not too complicated - you are basically letting it know where 0% and 100% throttle is. That's measured by a voltage signal (drive by wire....), and the box mainly needs to know what the specifics are for your vehicle. So you start that process, press a button when there's no pressure on the throttle, then after it "learns" that, you mash the throttle to 100%, press the set button, and you are ready to go. Here's a sound clip/video of just the mufflers on my Outback. They have the downturned tips (because Outback), but the basic muffler design is the same. Kodax
Hmmm...how much more gains will the 3.0R get out of this package?
apexjapan
Probably a few hp, but not much more than that. I don't have any runs with a 3.0R to go on at this time. N/A motors won't get the same big increases that a turbo motor, but then, there's a lot less worry with N/A's, so it's a trade off.
Kodax
Any torque difference? I was on the Australia Liberty forums. They had significant gains with CAI and a tune. Was wondering if I could combine that with this avo package.
apexjapan
Of course you can combine it, and if you do throw a tune in the picture, there will be better gains. Kodax
Just to double check, the high flow filter seems like a KN filter and the DBW Throttle Controller seems like another Si Drive to me. Am I wrong?
apexjapan
It's not a K&N, it's a dry filter design that we've been making since about 2004, I believe. DBW systems are somewhat similar to SI drive, but there's more available settings, and to be honest, the SI drive mapping still has the issues that annoy me the most (lack of initial throttle response) that the DBW system is effective in getting rid of. sanchitosonria
are the mufflers the same as the ones that are sold separately on the site?
apexjapan
Yes - the package is just a set of parts that are ordered fairly commonly as a group, with a discount on the entire set. Mufflers are the same as offered separately. Regards, Paul Hansen http://www.avoturboworld.com http://www.facebook.com/avoturboworld

Also, cant the people with the Si drive just change the maps on the Si drive with a tune instead of getting the DBW system? I am kinda confused because I was wondering which part of this package gives the extra gains for the car.
