Cabin air filter

Recommended Posts

my 05 did not have a filter, but did have the tray already in place for a filter. so I went to home depot and bought a filtrete purple filter and cut it out and placed it into the tray. I have enough filter for 2 more, and it was only $20. The subaru filter is $40 for 1.

There's a guide on here on how to access the tray, and on how to make your own filter.

Would this filter help with stale a/c smell when its turned on/off?

Probably not, the stale smell is mildew on the A/C evaporator. They sell sprays and foams you either jam a hose down the center vents or spray up through the drain hose under the car. But like I said in the other thread, lysol in the intake under the drivers side windshield under the hood works pretty good.

Unless of course the previous owner never changed the cabin air filter like mine....
