mikeyvt
So I happen to come across some 2011 sti mufflers. On my wagon now I have a Invidia bellmouth downpipe and perrin mid-y pipe. I had the legacy cans on there but I wanted a little more tone. I had them put on this morning and they sound better in my opinion. Sorry for the crappy pics and sound clip. Used my iphone. http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/7c8716c3.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/b4e52af0.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/d0811236.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/71a3c2eb.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/ba08e541.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/photo.jpg http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/photo1.jpg [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Fx4m8pRpFM&context=C3b07883ADOEgsToPDskKBNyGAvAnEqpMEHomAmX_T]2005 legacy gt wagon exhaust - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IncSgy-pH5E&context=C420e6f5ADvjVQa1PpcFPqyed331n5a4lqox3SEqYzrgEfEEGvNQM=]Sti cans 2 - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40l9oTnNNfE&context=C41bb630ADvjVQa1PpcFPqyed331n5a6SM52yKjob2zC3tw1nzc0Q=]Sti mufflers 1 - YouTube[/ame] Normal Driving http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/th_84923dc8.jpg A little throttle http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h41/mikeyvt1/Car%20Pics/Subaru%20Legacy%20GT%20Wagon/th_446f2469.jpg

mattg
Pretty cool. So they bolt right up to our mid & y or do they need to be modified?
mikeyvt
The piping that goes to the y-pipe had to be cut and turned. The tips had to get extended because its a wagon. New hangers.

jerseyglock
Looks like he added a section in between exhaust tip and end tip of the muffler. Other than that, I don't see other mods. Some or most of aftermarket Y-pipe can mate to stock mufflers, just need to verify with manufactor first.
contractkiller
They definitely make more power, hell, it knocked over your camera just from a little rev! Seriously though, looks good and sounds good too. Need a sound clip at WOT with a load on the engine! what did u mean when you said. it felt like i was driving a civic? did u mean the car felt like it was more dependable and it was getting better mpg's? mikeyvt
Time to get a tripod. I know. It was kinda of spur of the moment and the closest stand I found was a paint can Looks like he added a section in between exhaust tip and end tip of the muffler. Other than that, I don't see other mods. Some or most of aftermarket Y-pipe can mate to stock mufflers, just need to verify with manufactor first. There is a section added from the exhaust tip to the end tip of the muffler. I also had to cut the flange to the y pipe and turn it 90 degrees off the muffler. TRSCobra
Nice work! I'd considered doing this, but thought it'd be too much work to change the hangers and piping. Can you notice any difference in power?

Can you notice any difference in power? According to the butt dyno yes. I re-raced my buddy's 350z and it was the same ...so..... no.

mikeyvt
Looks and sounds great, I might be looking for a set of those for myself. I have a friend that is a certified tech at one of our local Subaru dealerships. He let me know a sti guy put spt exhaust on the car so I bought both mufflers for $50. Couldn't pass it up. BAC5.2
Not really a fan of the sound, but it looks alright. For $50, that's a good deal on mufflers. TRSCobra
Sounds a bit raspy, like mine does with stock mufflers. Any drone?
mikeyvt
Sounds a bit raspy, like mine does with stock mufflers. Any drone? It's does get a kinda raspy. Not a big fan of it either. I don't think there would be any rasp if I had a stock downpipe and mid pipe on there. There is a little drone. I'll do a in car vid with my go pro this week sometime and post it up. TRSCobra
You could always throw a full sized magnaflow muffler in place of the small perrin resonator. That should smooth the tone out a bit.

TRSCobra
It would likely be more cost effective to sell the perrin mid/Y and have a custom one made.
