LED Headlight Strips

Recommended Posts

I shot a video with an assistant to get the full white - blinking - white. In my frustration with the photobucket app, i somehow deleted it...

Thanks for all the likes and compliments guys. Good luck on your installs and post up some pics when you get them done.

Here is the video of them switching from white to blinking back to white. It starts kind of quick, but the transition back is totally there Enjoy! also it is from a cell phone.

Absolutely amazing work. Good job! I love the audi style DRL lights but hate it when it's done poorly. This is exactly what I would be looking for. Hopefully I'll get around to it next spring.

Hey I just installed my HID's and finally got around to clearing my headlights. I want to get some stage 2 switchbacks like what you have, what's your opinion on Diode Dynamics' products? pretty good? any issues you had with instillation or longevity?

I like em. With LEDs it is always hit or miss. They are great about replacing them if they are doa or go out. One of mine died after a day or so. With my black turn signal housings, i virtually have no turn signal in the daytime. I cant speak for chrome, but other people have been less than satisfied with their daytime brightness. I say give em a whire, and DD should take care of you.

Yeah Grilles on the 08-09 are harder. There are screws I couldn't get to without taking off the whole thing, bumper and all. Wife has been showing me photos of legacy's back home in Japan with some pretty intense lighting designs. I may look more into aesthetically placed LED's both for the interior and exterior.

You mean for behind the grille? What version are your Switchbacks? I don't like the lack of visibility the signals have in daylight. I know the company says they have a newer, brighter switchback but no video or photos of the product in use yet.

Badass man. Looks sexy on the red too. Nice clean install. Any info or tips on the install for other future installers?

Yeah for sure.

I made the mistake on the first one by not cutting a spot for the end of the led tube to go and had to do it after I already painted it. Make sure you cut a section out in the middle just to the right of the projector housing, but also on the top corner because the led tube is about 1-2cm to long.

I also went to fast and did too long of sections super gluing the tube down on the first one, my advise is to go slow and glue 2-3" sections at a time, use clamps (I used bad clips) to hold down the corners as they like to lift up.

The last thing is I used electrical tape to cover up the bottom of the led tube as the super glue seeps out and looks crappy. I'm not sure how long this will hold up so I'll keep you guys posted.

Interesting. You glued yours to the plastic trim. Mine are glued to the lens itsself. I dont know if one was is better than the other or not. Being on the lens did use up all the tube, where yours is a slightly shorter distance to cover.

Nice, clean install. How did you wire them up? Drl or parking lamps?

Ohhh you did? I thought about doing that but I wasn't sure which way you went and so I did it this way. If I were to do it again I would do it your way for sure.

I wired the amber to each blinker but the white is wired to a rocker switch that I can turn on or off anytime. I disabled my DRL's because I have HID's inside my Morimoto Retroquik projector retrofit and the low voltage from the DRL being on would destroy the ballasts.

Thanks man, I'm really digging it! I went to a car meet last night and they got tons of attention.

That looks awesome. To clarify - do you have them wired as your DRLs instead of the stock lowbeams, then? Along with the sidemarkers?
