JustCallMeNick
So, I didn't like the stock shift knob when I got the care, although it has grown on me some since then. I tried a few others too. I should also mention that I have a short throw shifter installed: Cobb: Fits PERFECTLY, solid, fits the contour of my hand well. My only complaint about it is that I don't feel like I have enough leverage to shift the gears because the knob is so short. This is the fault of Subaru's stubborn 5-speed transmission and the short throw shifter, not of the shift knob. It's also noteworthy that it has the little part at the bottom for the shift boot to attach to. Mishimoto: Very frustrating to install because the little plastic adapter insert was so tight. In fact, even with rubber bands (for friction) I couldn't twist it all the way on. I'm going to try drilling out the plastic insert just a little bit for a better fit. Otherwise, solid construction, I with the top was a little bit rounded to fit the contour of my hand but that's ok. Lots of leverage, easy to remind the damn 5MT who's driving the car. Nothing for shift boot to attach to (looks kinda bad) Killer B teardrop: Nice, minimalist, very lightweight. It's too big in my hand though. I subjectively don't like it. It sort of feels like a similar overall experience to the stock shift knob. Has part to attach to shift boot! Carbing Gold shift knob: Didn't fit. The hole was too tight for my big black Subaru. Returning it. The search continues. I realize I can't keep buying shift knobs and that I need to sell some of these but I'm on a quest for the perfect shift knob for the car. Smithcraft
I still have the stock knob in my wagon. It's shaped slightly like the head of a golf club, and I found that by turning it a bit farther than when it's just pointing forward, it fits in my hand better, almost like the old Hurst shifters. So I don't know how much I would care for the spherical shifters, and I can't even fathom the idea of the shifting with the cylindrical handles. LatentWagen
http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=232903&d=1467303508 Run these STi knobs in both the B and the Saabaru. They're nicely weighted and feel uber-quality. I also like the MOMO 5MT optional knob, perfectly sized for comfortable shifting, but feels cheaper in comparison. Ran the '15 red knob for a bit and liked it, it was heavier than the stock '08 B knob. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=232906&d=1467309483 LW's spec. With no luck. I'll probably break down and get the STI knob. I just don't like the looks of % 90 of the aftermarket knobs.
RJ255
I have the STi Duracon shift knob on my 5MT. Simple design, fits my hand well, and has the nub for the shift boot, OEM+ ftw. https://www.rallysportdirect.com/part/shift-knobs/sub-c1010fg310-subaru-oem-sti-duracon-shift-knob-black-5mt
henhead
+1 for the STI knob. I love mine. Decent weight and it's never hot or cold like some all metal ones I've had previously. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161023/7fb1fe2ca92655d87798974b1df75673.jpg Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Just a shame how expensive this and the stock ones are compared to aftermarket options like the Cobb, makes it a hard decision to make. 2000 Legacy B4 RSK - SOLD 2006 Legacy BP5 GT Spec B wagon - Garage Thread 2011 VW T5 van 2.0L of turbo diesel awesomeness
JustCallMeNick
Yup. I sort of winged it by using a drill bit and running the side of the bit along the interior of the plastic thing to basically file it down. A curved metal file would work well. I put it back on and it's better. So I was able to get it all the way down on the shifter and I'm giving the Mishimoto a second chance. The car drives the best by far with this Mishimoto shift knob. I wish the top was a little bit more rounded for the interior of my hand but the shifting feels perfect and the transmission doesn't argue with me as much as with the shorter knobs that have less leverage. Motomatt
I have the STi Duracon shift knob on my 5MT. That is, is it any shorter? I'd like to get something that is a bit shorter, and more spherical than the stocker. Also, I've seen two different part numbers for these duracon ones - and I've seen two sets of photos, with it appearing that one is longer/taller than the other. I'd rather have the one you linked - the more spherical one.
xtea
Anarchy motive, 900+ grams. Almost twice as heavy as the abrams knob. Shifts like butter even with stiffer bushings installed. Get the heaviest knob you can find.

KRM
http://www.grimmspeed.com/shift-knob-stainless-steel-subaru/ Been using this one for some time now. It's heavy, and fits well in my palm. LatentWagen
http://legacygt.com/reviews/data/40/11323IMG_8676.JPG STi Piston, nice! I'm a fan of them but just a little small for my E.T. hands http://www.grimmspeed.com/shift-knob-stainless-steel-subaru/ That GS knob looks really solid. For the price they could definitely use 321 or something cool instead of 304 tho. A little while ago I picked up this Prova Eifel knob. Definitely appreciated the Delrin this morning, as it was 18 degrees out LW's spec. B / YT / IG
