2005 LGT Wagon with 18 inch OZ Ultraleggeras

current tire is 225/40/18 goodyear eagle gt's(http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Goodyear&tireModel=Eagle+GT+(W-Speed+Rated)&partnum=24WR8GTXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes)

looking for a performance all season (because I live where there are actually 4 seasons) and looking to spend around $500 to the door.

these sumitomo's(http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Sumitomo&tireModel=HTR+A%2FS+P01+(W-Speed+Rated)&partnum=24WR8HTRAS&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes)

or these Kumho's(http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+AST&partnum=24HR8EASTXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes)

have my attention, but I figured I might as well ask since I would guess there are a few of you out there with some real experience.

18" ultraleggeras are 8" wide so id go with a 235/40/18 Kumho ecsta 4x - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+4X&partnum=34WR8E4XXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

only $134 per tire.

or kumho AST are only $111 per tire in that size - http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+AST&partnum=34HR8EASTXL&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes

wider tire is better tire.

DWS have mix reviews. Some people loved them, but for those who "drive" their cars, they hate them becuase they are too soft. I currently have the Pirelli P-Zero Nero, they are pretty good but I don't drive the crap out of my car.

thats true too. People who really "drive" there car should prob invest in a summer/winter set

had DWS. they are no match for large potholes. but i liked their traction in all weather thrown in new jersey so far and when they popped. Continental stepped up to help and covered half. sold last car with the contis on. will buy new contis in the coming months.

I have the DWS on my car now, 235/40r18. They came on the car and were only 6 months old when I got them.

I cant wait to replace them. Soft sidewall and loads of roll out of them, even on off ramps they do not feel confident.

I will give them credit in that they work well in the wet and even had them in some snow and they got me where I was going.

I run Bridgestone RE970 Pole Positions

They seem to be the best balance of all season vs performance - No soft Sidewall issues that I've found, and they do pretty good in snow and rain vs excellent Dry Performance

I had the 960s previously and these are louder, but do seem a little better performance-wise:rolleyes:

235/40-18 Federal SS595-Less than $400 delivered to your door from onlinetires.com

I just ordered a set and they came to $384.80 delivered. Takes a week (for me in Michigan) to get them and if you read the reviews, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Do yourself a favor and get a second set of wheels / tires for winter and a good three-season tire for your nice OZs. 17's for winter if they fit over your brakes.
Obligatory 'build thread' Increased capacity to 2.7 liters, still turbo, but no longer need spark plugs.
