The BBPeik Swannee Engine swap

Recommended Posts

As we know Swannee is getting rid of his LGT. We have been talking for a while and decided we are going to swap engines. Over the next few weeks I will be doing the swap at my house. Focusing on his first so that he can get his car back.

My engine(soon to be his engine) is stock with 70k miles. As most of you know I added Head studs and did a top end rebuild about 10 months ago.

Swannee's engine has Manley rods, CP Pistons, STI intake cams, Head studs, STI Crank, STI Oil pump, ACI Bearings, and a BNR 20G turbo. I will be adding a DP, Injectors, and a fuel pump.

This should be a very interesting project. I hope you will all enjoy the thread to come.

And So It Begins

I will take a bunch of pics, but if there are any specific things people want pics of please let me know.

Yes please. I am curious what the steering rack looks like from the top of the crossmember. I have a Perrin steering rack lockdown kit for WRX sitting in the garage that they sent me to test fit. From what I can tell, the mounting bushings are not accessible from the bottom like with the WRX crossmember. So pics will help a lot. :)

After work today I worked on my car for a couple hours. Got the coolant drained and pretty much everything on the top side of the car pulled off. Tomorrow I am hopefully going to get both motors out. Hopefully get my motor into Swannee's car as well.
