outback07
Hello Guys, I hope and pray you Subaru Gods can help me . I have a 2007 Subaru Outback SEDAN 2.5i 90k miles Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Since 50k I try to change my oil every 5000k miles sometimes i m a little late never more than 6000k miles. First question I woke up this morning finding my check engine light on . P0028 error , I check my oil and it super low . I just hit my 5000 mark 2 days ago. I had to add 3/4's of a quart IS THIS NORMAL. After examining my engine bay I see a leak green slime looking fluid on the right side near the Front Driverside Axel. WHAT IS THIS SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE PLEASE ? SHE IS MY BREAD AND BUTTER. Is it ok to drive to work which is 10 miles away from home.
burnout8488
http://i694.photobucket.com/albums/vv307/c_mcnamara/Interwebz/mother-of-god-super-troopers.jpg That looks to me like a mixture of coolant and oil, OR the grease inside your CV Axle (Rubber accordian boot thing) is getting splattered all over the place. I'd go down there with a rag and wipe it all up to try and track the source. Once the boot is clean, you can see if it's torn. I'd say it's 90% going to be the axle that's your problem. It does appear that you have a small oil leak on the driver's side head gasket, but pretty much all of us do. It usually never escalates to more than a "weep," never a drip, which leads me to believe it's the yucky thick grease inside your axle getting thrown everywhere. It's safe to drive, but an axle without grease will eventually start to make noise. Once it's making noise, then it might start to self destruct. I wouldn't worry about it for awhile though. Just get it fixed in a timely manner!
GEE-OTTO
Looks like a Head Gasket failure which is pretty serious
burnout8488
Is your coolant low?
ShrinerMonkey
99% sure that is torn CV boot. If you fix it quickly you may avoid having to replace the joint.
burnout8488
Yeah, I've never seen the color of the grease inside of it, but there's a chance it's that nasty green. The CEL is: P0028 - Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit Range/Performance (Bank 2) Anyone seen this? Someone on NASIOC said one of their "intake valve solenoids" was loose and it just needed to be plugged back in. I hope the OP comes back
