Scubaboo
I recall the VF48 has 'em. Do our turbos have these? Tried to search but couldnt find anything. I hope it means we dont have them.
MarcoLGT
Luckily we dont have any in the turbo lines. But we do have 2 in the AVCS system. One is under the intake manifold and the other is behind the drivers rear cam cover.
Scubaboo
Thanks Marco, good to know! I dont recall much fuss about AVCS screens even with the older models so I guess these are nothing to worry about?
Shadow_419
Thanks Marco, good to know! I dont recall much fuss about AVCS screens even with the older models so I guess these are nothing to worry about? With the turbo mounted oil pan, cam driven oil return pump, and no screens on the oil supply line our turbos have good oil flow. While anything is possible, the chances of oil starvation are much smaller than the 4th Gen.

MarcoLGT
I don't recall anyone having problems with them. However I replaced both of mine. One was easy and the other was right there during the timing belt/water pump job. Both my screens had barely any blockage but I can't leave well enough alone so I got rid of them. Scubaboo
^I am the same way and thinking of removing them just because, lol!
Shadow_419
^I am the same way and thinking of removing them just because, lol! I left mine in. I had 125k miles on the clock when I pulled my engine. They were wasn't any noticeable buildup or gunk blocking them. Cleaned it out like I did everything I removed, but right back in. I'm good about changing my oil, and not really worried about starving the turbo.
